II. RATIONALE:
The barangay is one of the most vulnerable sectors during
emergencies. It is among those that often suffer the impacts of disasters
brought about by natural and human-induced hazards. To enable focused,
effective and strategic implementation, the barangay has been building
the resilience of our community by advancing the safety and is very
diligent in ensuring that the barangay has a functioning disaster
management team.
The Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Planning
aims to reduce the damage cause by natural hazard like typhoon,
landslide, floods and earthquake through an ethics of prevention. Planning
also serves as a guide on what to do before, during and after a disaster. It
also aimed to ensure safety of life, protection of the environment,
restoration of production and salvage operations.
III. OBJECTIVES:
The framework has four main phases: prevention and mitigation;
disaster preparedness; emergency response; and recovery and
rehabilitation. The objective of the framework is to increase capacities and
decrease vulnerabilities of communities to face hazards and disaster in
the area.
IV. HIGHLIGHTS OF THE ACTIVITY:
1. The activity was attended by 25 participants
2. The workshop was facilitated by Carmelita Marquez, MDRRMO.
3. The participants identified the top 2 hazards in the barangay.

4. The participants identified different programs and activity
prioritizing the disaster risk in the barangay.
5. The BDRRM Plan 2023 was formulated thru the exchange of ideas of
the participants.
V. BRIEF NARRATIVE REPORT
The Disaster Preparedness main goal is to reduce the loss of life and
livelihoods. Simple initiatives may help in a big way, foe instance, training
for search and rescue, establishing early warning system, and developing
contingency plans, or stockpiling equipment and supplies. Mitigation and
prevention main goal is to aim to reduce the potential damage and
suffering that disasters can cause. While disaster management cannot
prevent disasters, it can prevent them from becoming compounded as a
result of neglecting causal factors and manageable risks. Rehabilitation
and recovery play a very important role in preparation as it can address
the longer-term needs and challenges that makes a community
vulnerable, it also provided the opportunity to increase the capacity of the
society to cope and reduce the risk of future emergencies and disasters.
We must need to plan a DRR to help the locality become more sustainable
and disaster resilient by selecting and prioritizing the most appropriate
risk reduction actions, based on knowledge gained in the risk assessment
process.
VI. CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION
The program and activity were conducted and implemented
successfully. The participants strongly agree on the program was delivered
as planned by the barangay.
