Title :
Add a Canon Printer Driver in Mac OSX Using CUPS

Question :
What is CUPS, and how does one add a printer driver in this area for Mac?

Answer :
CUPS (Common UNIX Printing System) is another method by which printing can be managed on Linux or Mac-
based operating systems. This set of instructions focuses on adding a printer within a Mac computer using CUPS.

In most cases, printers may be managed using System Preferences > Printers & Scanners. CUPS servers as an
alternate method for this within a web browser.

First, CUPS Administration needs to be enabled.

Navigate to Finder > Applications > Utilities > Terminal on the Mac.
Alternatively, this can also be searched for in the top-right corner of the Mac taskbar interface.
Within the Terminal window, type in the command syntax and press Enter:
cupsctl WebInterface=yes

Note: Every time the printer system is reset, this needs to be enabled again.
Open a web browser (ie. Safari) and navigate to this in the address bar:
localhost:631

Under CUPS for Administrators, navigate to [Adding Printers and Classes] > Printers [Add Printer].
Under Other Network Printers, select [LPD/LPR Host or Printer].

Ensure that the correct syntax is used. Examples are shown in this area. Click on [Continue] for the next screen.
Once this is completed, the printer object will now show in the Printers & Scanners list. (Under System
Preferences)
