Personal Reflection

The Evaluation of Action

As a team, we initially decided to ask questions to students in our

school for their personal experience (aged 8 to 10) but we lowered
down to students (aged 13 to 15), because this was the age group
most prone to bullying. This was a very relatable scenario for the
students in our school, because as quoted by one of the students
during our presentation that “Every student has at least experienced
or seen someone be bullied”. Bullying is a common sight that we see
on a global level these days. Our team's aim was to raise awareness
about bullying amongst the young generation, which makes us the
future of the world. We gathered information through a questionnaire,
which asked general questions about bullying. These questions were
asked on a wide spectrum of possibilities. Our target was to reduce
bullying in our school. I even got feedback from the students who were
present during our presentation and teachers that they were very
touched as a teacher appreciated us that we chose to take bullying as
our topic for our team project and that it was very crucial to do so. I
think that our flow of events during this project should’ve been more
planned and laid out. During the primary research, I searched for
statistics on bullying around the world for our presentation, and was
fascinated by how drastically an increase was seen in the rates of
bullying amongst this age group, mostly cyberbullying. This made
them realise how big this issue was.

Own performance

My role was to make the technical proof for the report like the survey
or the presentation. I didn’t have to face problems doing these things
because I was well versed with making them. I faced a problem while
choosing the right kind of information because there weren’t a lot of
trusted sources I could refer to but got to know a lot about helpline
numbers and social groups that you can share your bullying
experiences with. So I spoke to my partner and shared about this
perspective. He was in charge of most of the research and helped me
search for the numbers. While researching I found that The Philippines
have the most rates of bullying by a report by The Program of
International Students Assessment (PISA). Which was something new
that I got to know. I also faced issues deciding the additional material I
could use for the project. I found myself not able to find activities and
there is not much material I could present. I was on the verge of giving
up, this is when our teacher stepped in and encouraged me to go on. In
my future projects, I will do prior research on the availability of
information from trusted sources and plan activities in advance.

Experience as working in a team

Being in a team refers to working with different personalities. Though

we have completely different personalities, our opinions on this topic
mostly matched with each other. We too disagreed on some aspects
where he was stating how interviews were a more reliable option than
the survey but the interviews would’ve been time consuming as we
had to work in our day to day school. We summed up a survey after
that. We divided our work on the basis of our skills, which turned out to
be a great idea in the end because our work was done in less time. For
example, I worked on the material needed and candidate 2 on the
research. During the presentation, we presented together and didn't
have any problem doing so. We did face issues with people making fun
of us as we were working. Candidate 2 also worked on a poster which
was useless in my opinion as we didn’t use it anywhere

Evaluation of my performance

I have a difficult time staying focused for a long time and find myself
zoning out most of the time. Example, when researching I found myself
just surfing through information without any motive. I am definitely not
happy with this issue of mine and will try to improve with time.
However, I am fully determined for the task which is assigned to me
and will complete it anyhow and with perfection. I am a work oriented
person while candidate 2 is a people’s person so the atmosphere was
light and comfortable. This really helped as we were able to share our opinions
freely with each other.

Learnings for the future

I have learnt not to be intimidated by teamwork and efficiently shared

my opinion to my team and to also respect the opinions of others and
their way of thinking. I have learned that I lack in organising skills and
will make sure that I work on them. I also learnt a crucial skill which is
believing in yourself. After this project i feel more responsible and see
myself contributing to anti bullying
