PDF X is a powerful and widely PDF software that helps users to work with PDF files with more
efficiency, and produce methodical PDF documents and forms quickly, easily, and securely. With
this application, you can:
● Open, view, save, print, and markup PDFs;

A good way to get started quickly with PDF X is by familiarizing yourself with its workspace and
tabs.
PDF X provides an intuitionistic graphical operation interface with a quick access toolbar, a toolbar,
a button bar, a navigation menu, and a work area.

Download and Install

System Requirement

● Operating System: Windows 11/10


● Processor: 1Ghz Processor or above
● RAM: 512 MB RAM or above
● Available Hard Drive Space: 700 MB or above

Download PDF X on Windows Computer

● Search PDF X in Microsoft Store

● Click the Install button on the right to get PDF X on your computer

Set Language

PDF X will follow the system language setting automatically. If users need to change the interface of
PDF X to other languages, please change language in Settings in the Help tab.

Free Version and Subscription

Free Version Limitations

After installing PDF X from the Microsoft Store, you will receive the free version of PDF X. The
free version does contain the following limitations:
● Will only convert other file types to PDF, including, Word to PDF, Excel to PDF, PPT to
PDF, Image to PDF, RTF to PDF, and TXT to PDF.
● Will be restricted to merging, splitting PDF, and extracting, inserting, and deleting PDF pages.

Subscribe PDF X

To get the full version of PDF X, you need to subscribe to it. Please follow the below steps to
subscribe:

Step 1: Run PDF X with any PDF file
Step 2: Click the Upgrade button on the right of the View tab
Step 3: Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the purchase process.

Restore Purchase

If you already paid for PDF X before, you could restore purchase to use it if you reinstall or install it
on other devices:
Step 1: Launch MS Store on your computer, and make sure you have signed in the account which
has purchased PDF X before. If you need to switch account, please click your profile photo in the top
right corner of MS Store, click Sign out, and then Sign in the account you used to purchase PDF X
before.

Step 2: After signing in the MS account you used to purchase PDF X, please open any PDF file with
PDF X, select Contact us in the Help tab.

Step 3: Click the corresponding FAQ, and click the blue content to restore purchase.

Step 4: PDF X will restore purchase successfully in a few seconds, and it will pop up with the
window below. Then you could use all the paid features in PDF X!

Toolbar

The toolbar displays different functions in different tabs. The toolbar is in the upper middle of the
screen.

The toolbar is divided into five tabs, which are View, Annotate, Convert, Page, and Help. Every tab
has its corresponding tools in it. You could get to the tool you need instantly with the familiarity of
the toolbar.

Note: In most cases, position the pointer over a button could see the functional description of the
button.

The common FAQs are on the left. If the issue is not included, just tell us by typing in the right, and
please fill in your E-mail address so that we can reply to your email. If it is OK, you could also send

Open&Save PDF

Different Ways to Open PDF

After you have been familiar with the interface and layout of PDF X, you could start reading your
PDF files. You could open and edit PDF files, jump to a specific page you want, adjust the view of
the file, and more. You could open PDF files by PDF X in various ways.
● Double click on the PDF file if you already associated file type .pdf with PDF X.
● Click the "Open File" button in the Home windows to browse.
● Right-click the PDF file on your computer to choose "Open with", then select PDF X to open.
● When users receive a new PDF file in the computer, PDF X will pop up a reminder in the lower
right corner of screen to help users open the new received PDF file quickly.

Save PDF

● After making changes in the PDF file, click the Save button in the top left corner to save
the changes into the original PDF file

● If you want to save the PDF as a new file, please click the Save As button in the top left
corner to save it as a new PDF file.

Run in Full Screen

If you want to run PDF X on full screen, please click the full-screen button in the top right
corner after opening a PDF file with PDF X.

View PDF

Page View Mode

Document Layout

There are some options under the View tab to set the document's layout. You could also select the
page view mode with these buttons manually.

● Single: Display a single page in the working area at a time


● Double: Display two pages in the working area at the same time
● Continuous: Arrange the pages in the document panel in a continuous vertical column and
scrolling enabled.

Zoom

With the zoom tool, you can zoom in or zoom out the PDF file to get a better view. You could find
the zoom ratio in the View tab or the lower right corner.

● There are also "+" (Zoom In) and "-" (Zoom out) buttons in the view tab or in the lower right
corner, which can change the zoom level by 20% every time the user clicks on it.
● Choose a level in the Zoom box, the zoom level ranges from 50% to 600% as you need.
● Hold the "Ctrl" key on your keyboard and scroll your mouse wheel to zoom in or zoom out.

View in Full Screen

To view PDF in full screen, click the Play button in the View tab, then you could turn
to the previous/next page by clicking mouse buttons, pressing arrow keys, or scrolling the mouse
wheel.

Page Layout

You can find the settings to change the page layout of the pages in the "View" tab.

● Actual Size: To resize the page to its actual size of 100% zoom level.
● Fit Page: To resize the page to fit entirely in the document panel.
● Width: To resize the page to fit the width of the window. Part of the page may be out of view.
● Height: To resize the page to fit the height of the window. Part of the page may be out of view.
Note: The page layout will be the setting when the PDF file was opened last time with PDF X since
the page layout setting will be saved automatically .

Navigate PDF

Page Navigation

You can navigate through the pages of your active document in the bottom floating bar.

● Click the "Next Page" button or "Previous Page" button to get to the
next/previous page.

● Click the "Last Page" button or "First Page" button to go to the last/first page.

Bookmark Panel

PDF X supports viewing and editing bookmarks in PDF. Just click the bookmark button on the left
side of PDF X, and all the bookmarks in the file will be listed. Users could jump to the place of
bookmark by simply click the bookmark item.

 Click the expand or collapse button to expand or collapse all the bookmarks in
PDF.
 There are three ways to add bookmark in PDF:

1) Scroll the PDF to the page you want to add bookmark, then click add bookmark button
to create a new bookmark at the page you want.
2) Right-click in the page where needed to add bookmark, and select Add Bookmark

in the right-click menu to create a new bookmark.


3) Right-click at the place needed to add bookmark in the Bookmark panel, then click Add
Bookmark to create a new one. Besides, users could select Add Sub-bookmark to create a sub
one.

 Right-click the bookmark in bookmark panel, then click Rename Bookmark to rename. 
There are two ways to delete bookmark in PDF:

1) Select one bookmark, then click delete button to delete the selected bookmark.
2) Right-click the bookmark needed to delete, then click Delete Bookmark.

Thumbnail Panel

The Thumbnail Panel allows you to quickly scroll through pages in your document using the mouse
wheel, or by dragging the slider in the panel.

To resize the thumbnail panel, place your mouse cursor on the edge of the panel, and once it turns
into a double arrow, drag the mouse to adjust the panel size as needed then release to mouse to set it.

A bookmark is a link with specific text in the Bookmark panel.


With bookmarks, users could turn to different positions in the PDF file. PDF X allows users to
navigate through bookmarks. Just click on the bookmark you want to read, and it will turn to the
page where the bookmark at.

Annotation Panel

All the annotations will be shown in the Annotation Panel.

Show/ Hide/ Adjust Navigation Panel

The buttons on the left side of the Navigation panel provide easy access to various panels, such as
the Bookmark panel, thumbnail panel, Annotation panel, etc.

● To hide the navigation panel, click the close button to hide.


● To show the navigation panel again, click on one of the icons (Thumbnail, Bookmark, etc.) to
show the panel again.
● To adjust the size of the navigation panel, place your mouse cursor on the edge of the panel, and
once it turns into a double arrow, click to adjust the size as needed then release the mouse to set
it.

Fold Functional Tab & Navigation Tab

You could change the interface layout by folding the functional tab or navigation tab.

If you click the fold button in the top right corner, the functional tab will be folded.
If you click the fold button in the lower-left corner, the navigation tab at the bottom will be folded.

To unfold the tabs, just click the fold button again.

Auto-Scroll

With the Auto-Scroll function, you could read the PDF file without manually scrolling the page.

To turn on auto-scroll:
Step 1: Open the PDF file with PDF X
Step 2: Click Auto Scroll in the View tab, and select the speed you want

Note: The larger the number, the faster the speed.


To scroll the page from the bottom up, set the minus speed.

Screenshot

To create a screenshot of your PDF file, click the Screenshot button in the View tab. Then click and
drag the mouse to the desired area. Once you release the mouse button, the following options will
appear:

● Click to annotate the screenshot in Paint, which is built inside the Windows system.

● Click to copy the screenshot to the clipboard, so that you can paste it somewhere else.

● Click to save the screenshot on the computer.

● Click to exit the screenshot.

● Click to copy the screenshot to the clipboard. Then the screenshot will be shown
as a thumbnail at the top level, and you could get further operation with it. The buttons from left
to right are respectively, Copy, Zoom in, and Delete.

Extract Text

With the Extract Text function in the View tab, you could get the characters copied easily.

Click the Extract Text button in the View tab , click and drag the mouse to the
desired area, then click Done.

The text in the area you select will be shown in the new dialog window, and you could select to copy
the text to the clipboard or save it as a new TXT file as you want.

Note: If the texts are shown in images, please check the OCR option in the Extract Text window, and
selected the corresponding language.

Background

With the personal and comprehensive experience of PDF X, users could change the background of
pages to make the reading process more comfortable.

Users could select from different modes in the Background menu in the View tab.

Find

If the PDF file contains a huge amount of information on a lot of pages, the Find function could help
you to get the information rapidly.

Click on the Find button in the View tab, and type in the content you want to search in the PDF file.
Also, you could use the shortcut key of Ctrl + F to get the search function rapidly.

You could select the mode of Case sensitive or Match all words, which could make the search result
more precise.
About the Case sensitive and Match all words, these are two accurate search criteria.
For example, if you type in 'able' in the search box, you will get all the words including characters of
'able', like able, enable, disable, and capable, no matter whether it is in uppercase or lowercase. If
you select the Case sensitive option, only all words with 'able' in lowercase will be shown. If you
select the 'Match all words' function, only the word 'able' will be shown, and other words, like
disable, enable, and capable, will not be searchable.

With the arrow on the right side of the input box, users could go to the places where the search
keyword exists easily.

As the screenshot shown below, all the keywords that exist in the PDF will be highlighted with
yellow background color, and the one you are viewing will be highlighted with a red background
color.

Note: Only characters in the PDF file are searchable.

PDF OCR

What is OCR?

OCR is known as Optical Character Recognition, which is an electronic or mechanical conversion of


images of typed text into machine-encoded text. With OCR, you could easily convert the text from
images into editable characters. To get the characters in image-based PDF files or convert them to
the editable other format files, you need to check the OCR function.

Perform OCR

To get the characters in image-based PDF files, you need to perform the OCR function.
Here's how to perform OCR:
Step 1: Open PDF file with PDF X
Step 2: Click the OCR button in the View tab, and then drag your cursor to decide the area you want
to apply the OCR function

Step 3: Click Done, then selected the corresponding language in the lower-left corner. Then you will
get the characters in the area you set. You could select to copy the text to the clipboard or save it as
a new TXT file as you want.

Note: If you want to get the characters in the whole PDF file with OCR, please turn to the Convert
PDF chapter - Convert PDF Files to Other Formats Files section to get the instructions.

Annotate PDF

Text Markup

There are several text markup tools in the Annotate tab. You could select the tool you want, or just

click the Select button , and select the text as you want, the mini toolbar of "Highlight",
"Underline" and "Strikethrough" will appear for your quick access.

● Highlight : To mark important passages of text with a fluorescent marker as a


means of memory retention or for later reference.

● Underline : To draw a line under to indicate emphasis.

● Strikethrough : To draw a line to cross out text, making others know the text
is deleted.

● Area Highlight : To highlight an area, please click the Area Highlight
button, and drag the mouse click to select the area to highlight.
● If you want to change the color of the text markups, please click the color you want in the menu
below.

Once you have used the text markup tool, the tool will keep open, and you need to click on the tool
you just used again to exit, or click the Exit editing button in the menu of the tool.

Drawing

Drawing tools allow you to add different graphic elements to your PDF, such as lines, rectangles,
ovals, and inks. It is quite helpful for the users who want to insert some trace in the pdf files.

● Line : To mark with a line.

● Rectangle : To draw a rectangle, which is often used as a symbol of attention.

● Oval : To draw an oval.

● Ink : To draw whatever you want in the pdf file.

If you want to change the color or thickness of the drawing in the pdf, you could click on the menu
of the drawing tool, and select the color and thickness you want.
What's more, you could set the fill color and border color of Rectangle and Oval tools on your own.

Once you have used the text markup tool, the tool will keep open, and you need to click on the tool
you just used again to exit.

Add Comments

A comment is a written note intended as an opinion, an example, an illustration, or a statement of


fact or opinion, especially a remark that expresses a personal reaction or attitude. You can also edit,
delete, and move the comments with ease.

Add Notes/ Typewriter/ Text Box

To add comments, the Note function in the Annotate tab can help.

● Note: Click on the Note button in the Annotate tab to add a note comment, and click
the location where you want to put your comments in the PDF file you want, then you could
type in your comments in the note box.

If you need to change the author name of the note, please turn to Settings in the Help tab, then
change the Author Info and click OK.

● Typewriter: To add a typewriter comment, please click the Typewriter button in


the Annotate tab, click the location where you want to place the words, and then type in your
comments.

You could also change the font size, color, and default setting of the characters, by the menu above.

● Text Box: Click the Text Box button in the Annotate tab to add a text box to the
PDF file, and click the location where you want to put the box, then you could type in the box.

The text box is a rectangle of any size, possibly with a border that separates the text box from the
rest of the interface, allowing the user to input text information. A text box usually remains visible on
the document page, it does not close like a pop-up note.

You could also change the font size, color, border thickness, border color, fill color, and default
setting of it, by the menu above.

Move Comments

After adding the Notes/ Text Box/ Typewriter comment, please click the "Select" button, click the
Notes/ Text Box/ Typewriter comment that you want to move, and then drag it to move to the place
where you want.
Note: The Notes/Text Box/Typewriter comment can only be moved within the same page, you
cannot do this across different pages.

Delete Comments

If you want to delete the Notes/ Text Box/ Typewriter comment, please:
Method 1: Click the comment you want to delete, and then press Delete on your keyboard.
Method 2: Right-click on the comment you want to delete, then select the Delete option.

Stamps

Stamping PDF files is a very useful feature especially when you need to give reviews or explain the
document’s status or sensitivity. PDF X supports the function to add stamps to PDF files, which is a
powerful tool for users.

Stamp a PDF

Click the Stamp button in the Insert tab, select one preset stamp, then click on the
position where you want to place it.

Create Stamps

● Click the Insert local image option in the Stamp menu to browse the image file as you want to
insert.
● Click the Custom Stamp option in the Stamp menu to create your own customed stamp. You
could type the words you want and decided the font color of the customed stamp.

Handwritten Signature

The signature feature allows you to sign PDF with signatures, including drawing signature, typing
signature, and handwritten signature, and uploading the image within your handwritten signature.

Sign PDF

Click the Signature button in the Insert tab, and click on the Add picture button to
browse your signature file.

After selecting the signature file, click OK in the lower right corner, and put the signature in the
position you want in the PDF.

What's more, you could also make batch signatures if you have various pages needed to sign:
Step 1: Add a single signature as the operation above
Step 2: Click the signature, then select Place On Multiple Page

Step 3: Set the page range you want, and click OK

Then the signature will be added in the same place of the pages you set.

Note: If the image of Signature contains white background, please check the Remove Background
option, so that the white pixels will be removed and only the black pixels will be added to the PDF.

As you can see, the left one is the signature without its white background, and the right one is the
intact signature. The left one is better for view without background.

Create Signature

Handwriting Signature

Click the Signature button in the Insert tab, and select the Write option, set the font
weight, then you could create your signature by writing on the board.

After creating your signature, click OK in the lower right corner, and put the signature in the position
you want in the PDF.

Type Signature

If you want to type signature in PDF files, PDF X could help you with that.

Just select Type, and set the font you want, then you could type the content you want in your
signature.

Manage Signatures

PDF X could save no more than five signatures.


The signatures used will be saved in PDF X automatically, and you could use them again in the
Signature menu.
If some signatures are not needed anymore, you could click the delete button on the right to remove
them from PDF X.

Flatten Signatures

To make the signature uneditable for others, you could flatten the signature in PDF.

Steps to flatten signatures:


Step 1: Select the signature you want to flatten, then click Flatten function on the right.

Step 2: Click Flatten button in the pop-up window.

Also, you could make Batch Flatten after making batch signatures in the PDF,
Step 1: Select the signature which has made batch operation, and click Flatten In Batch option on the
right.

Step 2: Click Flatten button in the pop-up window.

After flattening, the signature(s) will not be able to move or delete, which could make it safer.

Undo/ Redo/ Delete/ Hide Annotations

● Undo/ Redo: When you annotate PDF documents, like adding text boxes, adding drawings or

highlights, etc, you can click the "Undo" button in the top Quick Access Toolbar to undo

the last operation. Click the "Redo" button in the top Quick Access Toolbar to redo the
last undo operation.

● Delete: After adding annotations, or if you open a PDF document with annotations in it, please

click the "Select" button in the View tab to go into the select mode, then right-click the
annotation to choose "Delete".

Alternatively, click the annotation and press the Delete key on your keyboard.
Another option is to click the Annotation panel on the left side, select the annotation you want to

delete, and click the delete button above to operate.

● Hide annotation: Users could click the Hide Annotation button in the View
tab to hide all the annotations in the PDF.

● Show annotation: Users could click the Show Annotation button to show
them in the PDF.

Comments Properties

You can change the appearance of all the comments.

Step 1: Click the "Select" button to go into select mode


Step 2: Click the comment which property you want to change.
Then the "Properties" panel on the top will be shown.

You can change its "Appearance", "Font" or "Border" settings. You can also click the "Use as
Default" button to set the properties as default when you add this type of comment again.

Edit PDF

Edit Text

With PDF X, you could edit texts in PDF files.

To edit texts in PDF, please follow the instructions below:

Step 1: Open the PDF file with PDF X, and click the Edit Text button in the View tab
Step 2: Close the pop-up window, then move the cursor to the texts you want to edit and double-click
on it
Step 3: Edit the text in the pop-up window, and click OK after edit.

Note: If texts are shown in images, then it is unable to edit directly.

PDF Watermark

Add Watermark for a Single PDF

After opening your PDF file, please click the Watermark button in the Insert tab,

and select Create Watermark to add watermarks to your PDF.

In the pop-up window, you could type in the content of the watermark, and set the text, size, color,
rotate angle, opacity, alignment, page range, and subset. Then click OK in the lower right corner, and
the watermark will be set.

Remove Watermark

The watermark could be deleted with the watermark function in PDF X.

You could find it in the Watermark button in the Insert tab, and select Delete
Watermark to remove the watermark in PDF.

PDF Header and Footer

Header and Footer are the words shown on the top and bottom of every single page.
If you want to change the header and footer in the pdf, click on the Header & Footer button in the
Insert tab, and then you could select the appropriate operation you want.

Add Header & Footer

Select Add in the menu of Header & Footer, and type in the content you want to show in your header
& footer in this pop-up window.

You could type the words in the place you want. For example, to add a header in the top left corner,
just type in the Left header box.

What's more, the font size, page range, subset of the page range, and margin of the header & footer
can all be set in the settings below.

What's more, you could insert the date, page number, or file name, automatically, with PDF X. Just

click the function you need, and PDF X will do it for you.

After typing in the header & footer, click OK in the lower right corner, and the header & footer has
been set.

Note: If the PDF file already has a header and footer, it can still add a new header and footer in the
PDF. Pay attention to the location of the header and footer, and make sure the new one won't overlap
with the existing one.

Update Header & Footer

After adding the header and footer to the PDF, you could update it if you need to change the content.

To update the header and footer, click the Update option in the Header & Footer menu, then change
the content in the pop-up window, and click OK.

Delete Header & Footer

If the PDF already has a header and footer in it, you could delete all the header and footer by

Page Number

You could add page numbers to your PDF easily.

Click the Page Number button in the Insert tab, and click Add to add page
numbers to the PDF.

In the pop-up window, you could set the property of page number, including style, start page number,
font size, color, position, alignment, page range, subset, and margin.
After setting all the properties, you could preview the page number in the Preview section. Click OK
in the lower right corner to apply if the settings are suitable.

Update Page Number

After adding page numbers in the pdf, you could update it to the latest if the page order has been
changed, or the property needed to be changed. Just click on the Update option in the Page Number
menu, and you could apply changes to the page number.

Delete Page Number

If you don't need to show page numbers in the PDF file anymore, you could select the "Delete"
option in the menu of Page Number.

Organize PDF

Organize Pages

PDF X has a streamlined user experience that has been created to make operations such as merge,
split, extract, insert, delete, and rotate pages more intuitive. To allow for multiple pages to receive
the same process, just click on multiple pages in the Page tab to apply the operation you need.
Another key feature is the ability to drag and drop a page or some pages to change its order in the
PDF file.

To rotate/ delete/ insert pages directly, you could move your cursor to the page you want to operate,
and select the corresponding function with the buttons on the right

The buttons are respectively, from the top down, rotate left, rotate right, delete page, and insert page.

Merge/ Split Pages

Merge pages is the process to combine various PDF files into one, and split pages is the process to
divide one PDF file into various PDF files.

● To merge pages, click on the Merge PDF button in the Page tab, add PDF files
that you want to combine one by one, change the files' order with the arrow icon on the right of
every PDF file, then click the Merge button in the lower right corner.

● To split pages, click on the Split PDF button in the tab, set the Split Mode, then
click Split in the lower right corner.

There are two split modes in the Split PDF function, Custom range and Fixed range, respectively.
Custom range is a range that set by the user. You could decide the page range that you want to split
into one PDF file. For example, if a PDF file has 22 pages, and the user wants to split it into two
PDF files, one contains pages 1 to 8, and another contains pages 9 to 22. Then the user could set the
split mode as Custom range, and input 8 into the type box, so that the split operation could be done
as it was wished.
Fixed range is a settled range. If a PDF file has 15 pages, the user set the Fixed range as 5. Then the
PDF will be split into three new PDF files, respectively including pages 1 to 5, 6 to 10, and 11 to 15
as what it was in the original PDF.

Insert Blank Pages

To insert a blank page, please follow the instructions below:


Step1: Click the Insert Pages in the Page tab, select Blank Page

Step 2: Set the page size, orientation, and position, then click OK.

Insert Pages from File

PDF X supports inserting pages from files, including PDF, Word, and Image files.

To insert pages from files, please follow the instructions below:

Step 1: Click the Insert Pages button in the Page tab, and select the corresponding
one with your file
Step 2: Browse your file and select the one you want to insert, set the insert mode including range,
subset, and position, then you could get the PDF after insertion.

Delete Pages

If you want to delete some pages from PDF, you could select the pages in the Page tab first, then

click the Delete Pages button in the Page tab, and the delete operation could be
done.

Extract Pages

Extraction is the process of reusing selected pages of one PDF into a different PDF. You can set the
page range to extract, the extracted pages will be generated as a new PDF file and the folder will be
opened automatically.

To extract pages, turn to the Page tab first, select the pages you want to extract, and click the Extract

Pages button in the Page tab, then you could save those pages as a new PDF file.

Rotate Pages

● Turn to the Page tab, move your cursor to the page you want to rotate, and then you could rotate
the page directly with the button on the right.

● Turn to the Page tab, select the pages you want to rotate at one time, and then click Rotate Left/
Rotate Right as you want, the rotate operation will be down.

Crop Page

Users could crop page by using PDF X.

To crop page, you need to:
Step 1: Open the PDF file with PDF X
Step 2: Turn to the Page tab, select the page you want to crop, and click the Crop Page button

Step 3: Drag the eight white squares around the page to adjust the area after crop, then click Done to
apply the change.

To get an accurate area, please click the Adjust Selected Area button on the right, then you could set
the margin manually.

Note: Only one page can be selected to crop at one time.
Please make sure the area after the crop isn't too small. Otherwise, it couldn't be saved.

Convert PDF

Convert PDF Files to Other Formats Files

PDF X supports to convert PDF files to MS Office, Image, RTF, TXT, HTML, and XML format files.
Here are three methods for you to convert a single PDF file.

View and Convert

After opening the PDF file, turn to the Convert tab, and then you could convert the PDF file to the
format you want, including "to Word", "to Excel", "to PNG", "to JPEG", "to RTF", "to HTML", etc.

Take converting PDF to Word as an example. Turn to the Convert page, and click on the PDF to
Word button.
In the new dialog box, you could set the output path, and whether to active OCR or Advanced Mode
to convert. After conversion, the folder will be opened automatically.

If the PDF contains images in it, please check the OCR function when converting to word, and select
the corresponding language.
What is OCR: OCR stands for Optical Character Recognition, which enables images or printed
text to be translated into machine-readable text. OCR must be used when scanning paper documents

to create electronic copies, but can also be performed on existing electronic documents (eg. PDF). To
edit the scanned PDF files or image-based PDF files directly or convert them to the editable other
format files (such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc) you need to perform OCR first before editing or
converting it.

If the PDF file is too complex to be converted to word with high quality, please check Advanced
Mode when converting to word.

Note: OCR is available only when converting PDF to Word.


Not all pdf files are suitable for conversion to excel, please try to convert to word.
Please remove the password of PDF file before conversion, otherwise it will lead to the failure of
conversion.

Convert Directly

After opening the program PDF X, you can click the Convert from PDF tab, and select the tool you
want.

In the new dialog box, please add the PDF file that you want to convert with the Add File button on
the top, then check OCR or Advanced Mode according to the situation, and click Convert in the
lower right corner.

You could also convert multiple PDF files by adding various files to it at one time.

Shortcuts of Converter

Users could convert PDF to Word, Excel, PNG, and JPEG conveniently with the shortcut in the View
tab.

What's more, no matter on which page or in what tab, there are four shortcuts for conversion on the
right, PDF to Word, PDF to Excel, PDF to PNG, and PDF to JPEG, respectively. Users could get
converters easily with these shortcuts.

Convert Other Format Files to PDF Files

PDF X supports to convert different types of file format to PDF, including "Word to PDF", "Excel to
PDF", "PPT to PDF", "Image to PDF", "RTF to PDF", and "TXT to PDF". Users could use these
functions directly in PDF X.

To convert other format files to pdf files, open PDF X first, and turned to the Convert to PDF tab,
then select the appropriate tool.

Take Word to PDF as an example, add files to it, and then click Convert in the lower right corner,
then you could get your PDF files converted from Word. The folder will be opened automatically.

Note: Before conversion, please make sure the original files are not occupied.

Compress PDF
PDF X could help you to compress PDF files easily.

Compress a Single PDF File

To compress a single PDF file, please follow the steps below:


Step 1: Open the PDF file with PDF X, and click the Compress button in the View tab.

Step 2: Set the Compress Level with the High, Medium, or Low option, and then click the Compress
button.

Then you could get the PDF file after compression.

Batch Compression

Protect PDF
PDF X supports setting a password for PDF files so that every time the file is opened, it will require
inputting the correct password.

Add Open Password

Open the PDF file which you want to protect with a password, and turned to Protect tab, and click

the Password button.

In the new dialog box, type in the password you want to set, and retype it to confirm, click OK in the
lower right corner, and the PDF file is been protected with the password.

In the process of typing in a password, users could click the button on the right and hold it to view
the password.

After that, it will require you to type in the password every time you open the PDF file.

Note: The character of the password should between 6 and 32, including letters, numbers, and
symbols, without any space, and it won't be applied until the PDF file has been saved.

Remove Password

If the PDF file is protected with a password, then the password could be removed after opening.

Turned to Protect page, and click the Remove button , then the password will be
removed.

Print PDF

Print a PDF document

Printing is a process for reproducing text and images. When you have finished reading a helpful
article or designing a PDF form, you may need to send it to an inkjet or laser printer and print it out.
To print a PDF, please do the following:

Step 1: Make sure you have installed the printer successfully. Then click the Print button in
the top left corner after opening the PDF file you want to print, and select the correct printer in the
print menu.
Step 2: Set the “Number of copies”, “Collate”, , “Grayscale”, “Page Range”, “Paper Size”,
“Orientation” and other options.
Step 3: Click the Print button in the lower right corner.

Print Settings

The print settings page is the final step before printing. You can set the print preferences here with
multiple options.

● Printer: Choose the printer you want to use.


● Copies: The number of copies you need to print.
● Collate: Decide the page print order. If there are multiple copies needed to print and have
checked the Collate option, the file will be printed in by copies.
● Page Range: Specify the page range you want to print. For example, 1-9 means print from page
1 to page 9.

● Print on both sides: Check this option to print PDF on both sides of the paper. Users may need to
overturn the printed pages manually to achieve double-side print. It is mainly decide by the
printer.
● Orientation: Decide whether to print the PDF in portrait or landscape.

After all these have been set, click the Print button in the lower right corner to start printing.

Batch Print

If users have multiple files that needed to print but don’t want to open every single file and click
print one by one, batch print function could help you! Users could print multiple files with just
one-time settings of print!
Here is the way to fulfill batch print:
Step 1: Click Print button in the top left corner

Step 2: Click Batch Print button in the bottom
