This is a practical course in writing for students of English. Attention will be focused on descriptive

This course aims to improve the student’s speech production. It will concentrate on classroom and
language laboratory exercises on conversational English, using relevant phonological materials such
as tapes, records, video films, among others, to enhance the student’s spoken English. Attention
will be focused on the correction of interference features in sentence, word stress and intonation.
Individual development of internationally intelligible educated English will be encouraged. The

Regional, mother tongue, second- and foreign-language varieties of English will be covered.
Attention will also be paid to the distinction between standard and nonstandard varieties of

This course focuses on the rudiments of English grammar and usage. Emphasis will be placed on
