In my career, self and social awareness is seen in the communication between coworkers and
management. Communication is a key part of my job, I must inform both management and
local law enforcement of any suspicious activity around my lot.

Self and social awareness skill is important because you need to know what you can and can’t
do, as well as how to communicate with others who may not think the same as you. These
skills can help you, by teaching you how to handle social situations and to learn the
differences between individuals. One person may do well with a teaching approach where as
another may think you are treating them like a child.

Knowing how to use self and social awareness skills may make you valuable to potential
employers who have high volumes of customer conflicts. To have an employee you can stay
calm and deescalate a situation involving such conflicts may help with customer ratings and
keep everyone safe around them.

Having communication skills makes you valuable as you are able to voice any problems that
arise on the job. An employer wants someone who can better their business and that can
help keep their business afloat. An employee who doesn’t have these skill may fail to report
error in certain work and depending on the career field, it could be dangerous.
