What are the educational implications of the following in the teaching-learning process in the context of

the new normal and post Covid-19 era?

a. Structuralism- I believe that structuralism relies primarily on our five senses: touch, taste, smell,
sight and hearing. It means in structuralism things can be easily observed, but structuralism
also requires introspection and could potentially be subjective. For example, if the sight,
hearing, taste, touch or smell is not the same between individuals this may cause an issue.
This is the problem during the height of the Covid 19 where in teachers are not present to
balance and neutralized the things that the learners observed.

b. Functionalism- the educational implications of this in the teaching-learning process in the

context of the new normal and post Covid-19 era is that interpretations and thinking of the
learners were hardly checked or corrected by the teachers. Since Functionalism is not
empirically based. During distance learning, teachers should also see to it that learners have a
conducive learning environment to arouse and sustain their motivation in interest in learning.

c. Behaviorism- Teachers should make learning as enjoyable and interesting as possible. One
way of doing this is praising appropriately those student who perform well in class. When giving
praises such as saying “very good” job well than” students would love the fact that we
appreciate their efforts and give credit to their works. Giving rewards and punishments is also a
strategy for good performances. However, behaviorism does not account for other types of
learning, especially learning that occurs without the use of reinforcement and punishment.

d. Gestalt Psychology- Social circle of our learners are very essential for their mental, emotional
and physical maturity. Giving them group works, projects, activities by peers has a great
relevance to socialization. Amidst the new normal we must still encourage our learners to
socialize and work with their peers. Working in groups could help learners understand the
lesson easily and makes learning fun.
