ABSTRACT
This piece of work presents my internship experience at Gilead medical center focusing
on the bacteriology, mycology, parasitology and hematology units. The primary objective
of this internship was to gain handon experience in the diagnostic process involved in
identifying bacterial , fungi, parasite and blood related disorders. Key tasks included sample
collection, staining procedures, microscopic examination and performing various hematological
test such as complete blood count.
In this report,I have listed my objectives , activities carried out in the laboratory and my
achievement so far including the problems I faced during my internship, recommendations and
the conclusion.
This internship report reinforced the vital role of laboratory diagnostics in patient care and
disease management. This piece of work is divided into five chapters. Chapter one represents
the hospital and different units of the laboratory, location, mission and history of the hospital,
chapter two shows the time frame of my internship, objectives and progress I made during my
stay in the hospital, chapter three shows a case study, chapter four represents the achieve
objectives, problems faced, solutions and recommendations and finally chapter five which is the
conclusion.
GENERAL INTRODUCTION
An internship is a designated timeframe during which individual usually students or
recent graduates gain practical work experience in their chosen field. It allows them to
apply theoretical knowledge and develop professional skills.
This internship report highlights my practical training as a medical lab students at gillead
medical center. The internship provided an invaluable opportunity to apply my academic
knowledge in a professional health care setting, allowing me to develop essential skills in
testing, sample collection and laboratoryprocedures.
I carried out my internship at gillead mediccenter for one month that is from the 01/08/2024 to
the 01/09/2024 . During this period I worked in various departments including the hematology,
mycology, parasitology and bacteriology units, gaining a hand on experience with advanced
laboratory equipment. This report will detail the tasks under taken, challenges faced and
knowledge gained which significantly contributed to my academic growth
