Modulaterator

The document describes the Multiplex Modulation Modulaterator, a compact modulation addition for the Multiplex build that requires no special parts. It provides specific instructions for component selection, connections, and layout, including the use of a switch to control modulation. Additionally, it suggests applying the modulation to various PT2399 designs with different connection methods for varying results.

Multiplex Modulation Modulaterator

Add this to your Multiplex build for not so subtle modulation. It's a really small form factor and requires
no special parts.

C1 should be multi-layer ceramic to fit in the allotted space. R6 should probably be socketed. This
value sets the MAX depth, and higher values means LESS max depth, so adjust as desired. 1/8 th W
resistors are really slick for this, but nor required.

IC should be either TL072 or TL062.

Connect the OUT pad to lug 3 of Delay2 on your Multiplex build. Use an SPST or SPDT switch
between the OUT and Delay pot if you want to turn modulation off (recommended). Alternatively, use
an On/Off/On switch, connect OUT to the center lug and connect one outer lug to Delay1 and the
other outer lug to Delay2. This lets you turn off the modulation in the center position, or send it to
either delay pot (highly recommended).
Layout and Artwork

Note the two jumpers under the IC!!

Individual PCB size: 1.36” W x .76” H

Quad dimensions: 1.53” W x 2.73” H

Bonus: you can apply this modulation to just about any PT2399 design (Rebote, Sea Urchin,
whatever). There are different way to connect it. Some designs have the Delay pot connected to pin6
(VCO) of the PT2399, and then a small resistor to ground after that. The resistor sets the minimum
delay time. In this case, you can try connecting the modulation either directly to pin6 of the PT2399,
or between the delay pot and resistor. It will produce slightly different results in each case. Try it for
yourself and see!
