General Instructions:
1. This Question Paper has 5 Sections A-E.
2. Section A has 20 MCQs carrying 1 mark each.
3. Section B has 5 questions carrying 2 marks each.
4. Section C has 6 questions carrying 3 marks each.
5. Section D has 4 questions carrying 5 marks each.
6. Section E has 3 case based questions of 4 marks each with subparts of 1, 1 and 2 marks respectively.
7. All questions are compulsory. However, an internal choice in 2 questions of 2 marks, 2 questions of 3
marks and 2 questions of 5 marks has been provided. An internal choice has been provided in the 2
marks questions of Section E.
8. Draw neat figures wherever required.

SECTION-A
This section consists of 20 questions of 1 mark each.

32. Factorise: f(x) = 2x3 −3x2 −17x + 30 .

SECTION-E
This section consists of 3 questions of 4 marks each.

36. Two classmates Salma and Anil simplified two different expressions during the revision hour
and explained to each other their simplifications. Salma explains simplification of √ 2 /(√5 +√3)
by rationalising the denominator and Anil explains simplification of (√2 + √3)(√2 − √3) by using
the identity.
Based on the above information, answer the following questions:
(a) What is the conjugate of √5+ √3?? (1)
(b) What is the sum of rational and an irrational number. (1)
(c) Rationalising the denominator of √ 2/(√5 +√3).. (2)
OR
(c) Simplify: (2√2 + √3)(2√2 − √3)
