IES-2
Data logger is a Microprocessor
based system, which helps in
analyzing the failures of relay
inter locking system (PI & RRI) /
Electronic Interlocking system
(EI).
Specification no.IRS S 99/2006

DATA LOGGER
2
 Data logger acts like a BLACK BOX
 It records and stores all the information regarding the changes
that take place in the status of Relays, AC/DC voltages with Date
and Time.
 The same Data can be transferred to a FAS (Fault Analysis
System) to make further analysis of stored data in On line /Off line.
 Print out of the data can be obtained by connecting a Printer to
the DATA LOGGER or to the FAS.

DATA LOGGER

(a) Data logger helps in monitoring typical failures such as
intermittent, auto right failures.
(b) It helps in analyzing the cause of accidents.
(c) It helps in detecting the human failures / errors such as :
(i) Drivers Passing signal at Danger (SPAD).
(ii) Operational mistakes done by Electrical/Engg/S&T staff.
(iii) On line and Off line track simulation is possible.
(iv) It helps as a “Diagnostic tool” in preventive maintenance
of signaling gears.

Data stored in data logger is of two types

DIGITAL DATA:
Relay contacts of PI/RRI & auto signal,
Bits of EI’s etc.
ANALAG DATA:
AC/DC bus bar voltage (24V, 60V, 110V &230V etc.)
EX: Axle counter channel voltage, Temperature

DATA LOGGER

1. Capacity-
 Digital – Minimum 512, max 4096;
 Analogue – Minimum 16, max 96
2. Each digital Scanner card (DSC) can read 64 digital inputs.
3. Each Analog Scanner card (ASC) can read 8 ananlog inputs.
4. It works on 24V Dcsupply.

DATA LOGGER
7
 CPU Module.
 Digital input cards.
 Analog Scanner units (ASU)
 Remote Terminal Unit (RTU)
 Dual modem card.

SIGNAL BOBBING –
The time difference between ECR (UP to DOWN to UP)is in between 500
ms to 2 seconds which should be taken as 1 count and for satisfying the
fault logic 2 to 3 counts should happen within 10 seconds

Signal Flying Back to Danger –

 When RECR is up continuously for more than 2 seconds - in that
condition if UCR/LR/U(R)S is up and HR/GR2 is down and signal
replacement track(TPR) is up and EGGNR down, then it is Signal Flying
back to danger.
SPAD-
a) When track 2 is DN after track 1 is DN and RECR is UP.
b) The time difference between T2 DN and T3 UP is more than 5 Sec.
c) The time difference between T2 DN and RECR UP is more than 5 Sec.
d) T2 is not bobbing and is DN for more than 1.2 Sec.

Train Passing Blank Signal –

 Approach track drop,1st controlling track drop,2nd controlling track
pick up & RECR,HECR,DECR,CO ECR,SH ECR drop for specific time.
