G3-Arts LP

The lesson plan aims to teach fifth-grade students about perspective in drawing, focusing on how size indicates distance. Students will engage in various activities, including drawing people of different sizes to show distance, participating in a relay drawing, and conducting a scavenger hunt for items of varying sizes. The lesson emphasizes understanding the relationship between size and distance in art through observation and practice.

DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN SCIENCE 5

I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standard The learner demonstrates understanding of lines, texture,
shapes and depth, contrast (size, texture) through
drawingThe learner demonstrates understanding of lines,
texture, shapes and depth, contrast (size, texture)
through drawing
B. Performance Standard Creates an artwork of people in the province/region. On-
the-spot sketching of plants trees, or buildings and
geometric line designs shows a work of art based on close
observation of natural objects in his/her surrounding
noting its size, shape and texture.
C. Learning Competency Distinguishes the size of persons in the drawing, to
indicate its distance from the viewer.
D. Specific Objectives At the end of the lesson, the learners should be able to:
a. Tell the difference of the sizes of persons in a
picture in order to show awareness of distance.
b. Draw a picture of persons in different sizes in a
composition to show distance
c. Give value on one’s ability and confidence in
making an artwork showing distance.
E. Learning Code A3EL-Ia
II. CONTENT
III. LEARNING RESOURCES
A. References
1. Teacher’s Guide Pages MAPEH 3 pages 7-10

2. Learner’s Material Pages PILOT SCHOOL – MTB MLE Lesson 1

B. Other Resources PowerPoint presentation, printed materials, Laptop
IV. PROCEDURES TEACHER’S ACTIVITY STUDENT’S ACTIVITY
A. Preparatory activities A. Greetings
Good morning class! Good morning, ma’am!
Before we start, kindly
stand and let us first have
our prayer.

(Richard leads the prayer)

Before you take your sit,
kindly pick up those
scattered pieces of papers
under your chairs.

B. Attendance
Say present when your
name is called. (Students will say present)

Let me remind you our

classroom rules that you
should follow all
throughout our lesson.
1. Sit Properly
2. Listen
3. Raise your hand if you
want to answer
B. Review the previous lesson So last Friday we discuss
the element of arts, right?

What are the elements of

art that we discuss last
Friday, they are the?
(students will answer)
The 7 elements of arts are
line, shape, form, color,
texture and size.

C. Establishing a purpose for the lesson Everybody stands and let

us sing the song ‘BIG and
SMALL’, the tune will be
the “Deep and Wide.”

Big and small (2X)

There’s a bird that flying
big and small.
Far and near (2X)
There’s a bird that flying far
and near.
Big when near (2X)
There’s a bird that flying
big when near.
Small when far (2X)
There’s a bird that flying
small when far.

Thank you everybody, take

your sit Ma’am!
What is the song all about?

Yes Daisy?
It’s all about big and small
Very good Daisy! ma’am.

How does the bird look

when it is close to us?
How does the bird look
when it is far away? The bird looks bigger when
it is close to us.
Yes Maridel? The bird looks smaller
when it is far away.
Very well said Maridel!
D. Presenting examples/instances of the I have here picture of the
lesson same kind.

Which of these pictures The picture that shows that

it is near me is the bigger
shows that it is near you? ma’am.

The picture that shows that

Which of these pictures it is far is the smaller
shows that it is far from ma’am.
you?

Very good!
E. Discussing the new concepts and
practicing new skills #1

Are the sizes of trees

differ? How?

In a drawing, the sizes of

objects differ because of
their distance from the
viewer. Objects look
smaller when they are
far and larger when they
nearer. This is how
PERSPECTIVE is
shown in a drawing.

What is perspective?
What is it for?

Perspective is a way of
portraying three-
dimensions in a flat, two-
dimensional surface. This is
to create the appearance
and spatial relationships of
objects, buildings relative
to each other as
determined by their
distance from the viewer.

(Examples)

F. Discussing the new concepts and Activity: Distance and Size

practicing new skills #2 Composition

Direction: Draw a picture

that has at least three
people of different sizes to
show how far away they
are, with bigger ones in the
front and smaller ones in
the back. Once you finish
your sketch, color it in and
add things like trees,
buildings, or animals to
make it more interesting.

Processing questions:
1. What did you
notice about the
sizes of the people
in your drawing?
2. What was your
favorite part of
your drawing?
Why?
3. Can you think of a
time when you
saw things far
away that looked
smaller? Describe.
G. Developing mastery/ leads to Activity: Relay Drawing
formative assessment
Direction: In this activity,
form small groups and use
a large piece of paper. One
person starts by drawing a
big figure for someone
close, then passes the
paper to the next person to
add a smaller figure for
someone further away.
Keep passing the paper so
everyone can add details
like trees or buildings.
When you’re done, show
your drawing to the class
and explain how you
showed distance with size.
Enjoy working together!
H. Finding practical application of Activity: Everyday Distance Scavenger Hunt Checklist
concepts and skills in daily living Scavenger Hunt
1. A large book
Direction: You will go on a 2. A small toy
scavenger hunt to find 3. A chair

small toy. As you find each 8. A piece of paper (any
item, write down if it is big, size)

far away it is (close, 10. A poster on the wall
medium, or far). You can
measure if you want, or
just guess. After the hunt,
we will talk about what you
found.
I. Making Generalization and abstraction In a drawing, do objects In a drawing, objects that
about the lesson that are close to the viewer are near to the viewer are
look bigger? bigger,
Do objects that are farther while objects that are far
away from the viewer from the viewer are
appear smaller? smaller.
How does the size of
objects change based on
their distance from the
viewer in a drawing?
J. Evaluating learners Direction: Write True if the
statement is correct and
False if it is NOT.
1. Big objects are usually in
the front of a drawing.
2. Things that are faraway
look smaller.
4. A small toy looks bigger
if it is close to you.
5. A tree far away looks the
same size as a tree close to
you.
6. We can tell how far
something is by looking at
its size in a drawing.
7. Size and distance change
how we see things in
pictures.
