Module-2: Relate
Smart Living–Smart Home and Smart cities : Smart living refers to using AI enabled technologies
into our houses, offices and cities. Smart cities are the cities basically that uses technology to
provide better citizenship, improve the efficiency and better quality of living. Smart cities can
include smart homes, smart schools and smart hospitals etc. Any building that uses smart devices
is known as smart building. Examples of smart devices: Smart lights, AI enabled camera
surveillance system and parking sensors etc.
Today, AI has become a part of our life. Both big and small companies are using this technology to
reduce work pressure and increase productivity. This translates into better customer experience
and comforts.
AI has revolutionised every industry and field. Some of the examples include :
1. Amazon Alexa 2. IBM Watson 3. Alphago
RELATING ARTIFICAL INTELLIGENCE (AI) TO OUR EVERYDAY LIFE
1. Automobile industry : This industry is using artificial intelligence to develop self-driving
vehicles. This will help in reducing accidents and traffic jams.
2. Transportation and logistics corporations : Different companies like Amazon, Flipkart,
Uber, Ola etc. uses AI technology to provide subscriber traffic updates, estimated time of
arrival, fares etc., to reduce their expenses.
3. E-commerce organisations : Companies like Amazon and Walmart use AI to understand
their customers better according to their purchasing preference.
4. Financial and insurance companies : These companies use AI technology to keep frauds in
check and secure personal information of the customers.
5. Digital assistants : Microsoft’s Cortana, Google Assistant, Apple’s Siri, etc. uses AI
technology to understand what is being said and answer questions.
6. Social networks : Sites like Facebook and Twitter use AI to identify and address false news,
hate posts etc.
Module-3 : Purpose
Introduction to Sustainable Development - Sustainable development is the development that
satisfies the needs of the present without compromising the capacity of future generation. There
are a set of 17 goals that the nations of the world adopted at the United Nations Conference on
Sustainable Development in Rio de Janeiro in 2012.
Three Pillars for sustainable development.
Social Pillar : The social pillar refers to values that promote equality and respect for individual
rights.
Economic Pillar : This pillar is based on economic development and growth.
Environmental Pillar : The environmental pillar is founded on a commitment to protect the
environment by reducing risks
Goal 1: No Poverty Goal 2: Zero Hunger
Goal 3: Good Health and Well- Goal 4: Quality Education
being
Goal 5: Gender Equality Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation

Goal 15: Life on Land Goal 16: Peace, Justice and Strong
Institutions
Goal 17: Partnerships for the
Goals
Module-4: Possibilities
The AI jobs are emerging in the various fields such as healthcare, security, education, agriculture,
entertainment, service and transport. Possibilities in AI as career needs the required skill set with
effective communication and collaborative work skills.
These jobs are usually related to research, development and deployment. Software analysts, data
scientist, Research scientist, ML engineers, Business Intelligence developer are some of the basic
example of jobs in AI field.
Some of the renounced companies which are hiring AI talent are Amazon, Microsoft, Samsung,
Lenovo, Intel, and IBM.
Module-5: AI Ethics
Ethical concerns are one of the most critical problem areas, which have emerged out of the
development of AI and related technology.AI ethics is a set of guidelines that advise on the
design and use of artificial intelligence.AI ethics are divided into 2 categories:
Concern related to data management- One of the primary challenges is the potential for AI to be
used to violate privacy. AI systems require vast amounts of (personal) data, and if this data falls
into the wrong hands it can be used for criminal activities, such as identity theft or cyber bullying.
Concern related to adoption of AI technology- Some of the major concerns related to the
adoption of AI systems is:
(a) Job Loss
(b) Increasing inequalities (Related to technology or economic gap)
(c) Negative Adoption
