Abstract: Phishing Email Detection and
Mitigation
Phishing emails have emerged as a major cybersecurity threat,
endangering individuals and organizations by attempting to steal
sensitive data, compromise financial resources, and harm reputations.
These deceptive emails often mimic legitimate sources to trick
recipients into revealing confidential information, such as passwords
and credit card details, or clicking on malicious links that deploy
malware or ransomware.
This project focuses on developing an AI-driven phishing email
detection and mitigation system that utilizes machine learning, natural
language processing (NLP), and cybersecurity strategies to identify
and counteract phishing threats. The system will examine email
metadata, linguistic patterns, sender credibility, and embedded links to
detect and flag potential phishing attempts in real-time. Additionally,
it will integrate email authentication frameworks (SPF, DKIM,
DMARC) and threat intelligence tools to enhance security measures.
The system will incorporate an automated response mechanism and
an educational component to further reduce phishing risks to raise
user awareness about recognizing phishing tactics. This project aims
to improve email security, minimize cyber threats, and promote a
safer digital environment by combining these approaches.
With applications spanning corporate security, financial institutions,
and personal cybersecurity, this solution offers a proactive defense
against the ever-growing challenge of phishing attacks in today’s
digital landscape.
