A) Navisworks is a “Viewer software” basically it opens 30+ formats. Navisworks allows users to
open and combine 3D models, navigate around them in real-time and review the model using a
set of tools. And also used for clash detection b/w two linked files.

Navisworks versions :-

File Formats :-

1) .NWC :- Navisworks cache file ( it is the file of Revit project file .Rvt after conversion happens)

2) .NWF :- Navisworks file set ( Navisworks has some analysis tools and markup tools we can do
some functions, the work we are doing stored as .NWF format

 .NWF will not have 3d model data

3) .NWD :- Navisworks Document (combination of .Nwc and .Nwf files)

Some useful features of Navisworks :-

1. Navigation through model

2. Object selection

Revit:-2000 ( introduced in india 2007)

104. The difference between view specific elements (detail component, 2D lines, text, tag...)
and datum (levels, grids) and model elements ?

A) Revit uses 3 types of elements in projects: model elements, datum elements, and view-
specific elements :-

Model elements represent the actual 3D geometry of the building. They display in relevant
views of the model.
Examples:

 Walls, windows, doors, and roofs

 Structural walls, slabs, and ramps
 Sinks, boilers, ducts, sprinklers, and electrical panels
Datum elements help to define project context. For example, grids, levels, and reference planes
are datum elements.

View-specific elements display only in the views in which they are placed. They help to describe
or document the model. For example, dimensions are view-specific elements.
105. The difference between system families and in place families ?

A) System families :- They are pre-defined components in the Revit platform and the same
cannot be created or deleted using the Revit User Interface (UI). you don’t need to load them
into your projects and cannot be even save them into an external location.

In place families :- The In-Place families are custom components that are usually created based
on specific project requirements. In-Place Families are Project Specific and cannot be saved as
external RFA files.

107.Why do you need to be cautious when deleting levels ?

A) When you delete a level, Revit also deletes associated views and model elements that are
hosted by the level so that needs to be cautious before deleting levels

108.Why is it not recommended to explode CAD in Revit ?

A) Exploding linked CAD files that yield more than 10,000 elements is limited in any Revit
Version as this may cause file corruption.
109.What is BIM?

A) BIM is a process for creating and managing information on a construction project throughout
its whole life cycle.

110. What is Conceptual Stage drawings ?

A) Conceptual stage drawings / often freehand, that are used by designers such as architects,
engineers and interior designers as a quick and simple way of exploring initial ideas for designs.
They are not intended to be accurate, merely a way of communicating design principles and
concepts.

111. What is Detail Design Stage drawings ?

A) Detail design drawings are nothing but You can create a callout from a plan, section, or
elevation view and then add detail components while using the model geometry as a base. Ex:-
callouts,

112. What is As built Drawings ?

A) As built drawings are Also known as “record drawings and red-line drawings”, as-builts
drawings are documents that allow a compare and contrast between the designed versus final
specifications, and provide a detailed blueprint of the building.

113) What is General arrangement Drawings?

 General arrangement (G/A) drawings are critical for viewing the overall configuration of
a
Plant layout.
 Engineers utilize G/A drawings for equipment verification, orientation and integration,
and document generation.

114) What are Schematic drawings ?

A) The word “schematic” means a plan, outline, or model. So a schematic diagram is a

graphical representation of a plan or a model.

115) What are P&ID in Revit ?

A) A piping and instrumentation diagram, or P&ID, shows the piping and related components of
a physical process flow. Similar to process flow diagrams(PFD)
116) What is BOQ in Revit ?

A) Bill Of Quantity (BOQ) is a document created that contains information on the quantity of
materials, elements in a construction project. Similar to scheduling nothing much difference.
