What Is An Internship Report?

An internship report is a document that summarises your internship experience with a

company and any ongoing considerations you might wish to recommend. After you
have completed an internship project or an internship program, the company is likely to
ask you to submit an internship training report detailing your work experience. The
report would help them understand the benefits you received by interning with them and
how they can improve their program for future interns.

In your report on your internship experience, you are required to mention the skills you
developed during the training period and specify how you used these skills in the
position and for the tasks that the company assigned to you. Additionally, you can
evaluate their importance for future work opportunities.

Is An Internship Report Necessary?

The necessity of an internship report varies from one company to the next, as only
some internship positions would require you to write one. Since an internship summary
report can evaluate your learning experience with a company, you are required to make
a point of writing one. It articulates the skills you acquired during your internship and
explores how these helped you develop professionally.

1. Prepare a title page

The first page would be the internship report introduction and it is required to include the
report's title, and the name of the company. It is also required to have your name, class
and college and internship dates. This information would make it easier for the company
staff to identify different reports.

2. Write a table of contents

The next page of your internship project report is required to be a table of contents. This
page would give readers a quick overview of everything you have included. It would
also make the sections easy for readers to find.

3. Include an acknowledgment section

Begin the internship project report by thanking your advisors and the people at the
company who helped you during the training period. You can also mention how they
helped you and what you learned in particular from each person.

4. Provide company background information

Give a brief overview of the company's history, including who founded it, for what
purpose and when. This is also the place to mention the company's mission statement
and its regular business activities. You are required to inform your readers about the
company and your role in their overall work scheme.

5. Give details of your work responsibilities during the internship

Mention your internship position within the company and explain the specific tasks that
the company staff assigned to you daily. You can discuss the skills you learned as a
result and the experiences that helped you to develop professionally. You are also
required to mention any projects you completed on your own or as part of a team.

6. Discuss the skills you learned and the experiences you had

It is important to include specific skills you developed during the course of your
internship. Explain how they relate to your educational experiences and your career
goals. Detail experiences you received during your internship that helped you to
develop professionally and how they would contribute to your future work.

7. Write a conclusion, mentioning various ongoing considerations

Finally, discuss skills that you would like to continue developing or experiences you
would like to have as part of your internship. This can help you gain insight into what
you would like to find in future internships while also helping the organisation
understand how they can better meet the needs and interests of interns in the future. It
may help to refer to the internship cover letter you wrote to apply for the position to
remember what you were looking for when you started.

 Conclusion

Acknowledgement

I undertook this internship project and completed the internship report under the
guidance of Medha Solanki and Areqa Consultancy. I am grateful to the Areqa staff for
their patience and assistance during my training at their company. It was a good
learning experience for me to work with their marketing division, as the project involved
many innovative marketing practices.

Information about the company

Areqa is a market research consulting firm from Bangalore and has been providing
marketing aid to companies from India and abroad since 1991. They specialise in
creating and improving products and services according to the current market needs.
They also assist clients with market exploration and discovery for business
development. Alongside this, they guide clients in the implementation of marketing
changes to make a discernible business difference. Furthermore, they keep them
updated on the latest marketing trends.

Information about the internship position

I joined Areqa for an internship program in the capacity of a marketing assistant. While
the central focus was on conducting market research, collating marketing data, and
conceptualising market realities, I also handled various other tasks as they occurred.

Description of the internship experience

As an intern in the marketing department of Areqa, I got a list of tasks to complete every
day. To get the marketing initiative started, I had to meet with clients on almost a daily
basis. Sometimes I met around 10 to 20 clients per day and had to persuade them to
consider various advertising campaigns that Areqa could undertake for them.
Additionally, I worked on market conceptualisation and made lists of potential clients to
contact for advertising pitches.

The tasks I undertook included:

 Analysing data using statistical software

 Converting complex data into understandable formatting
 Finding understandable tables graphs and reports
 Finalising reports and preparing them for presentation to the senior
management and clients
 Meeting and liaising with clients
 Writing, distributing and managing questionnaires for market research
 Undertaking demographic research
 Making presentations to senior company staff and clients

Conclusion

From my internship at Areqa, I was able to get a better understanding of how the
marketing industry works and how effective it is. I enjoyed working with the Areqa
marketing team to devise and implement different marketing strategies. But, I still have
a long way to go in understanding the psychological aspects of marketing, and I require
to build up my public speaking skills as well.

Overall, I found the marketing internship experience to be positive, and I am sure I

would be able to use the skills I learned in my career later.
