Longer Transactional Writing (25 Marks)

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Choose ONE of the following topics.


2. The length of your response should be between 180-200 words.
3. Write down the number and title of the topic which you have chosen at the top of
your response.
4. Pay attention to format, language, tone, style and register. Consult the RUBRIC at
the back of your assessment.
5. You must plan (using a mind-map/ diagram/ flow chart/ key words, etc.), edit and
proofread your work. The planning must appear BEFORE the final piece and
BOTH are to be handed in.
6. All planning must be clearly indicated as such. Remember to draw a line through
all planning. EVERYTHING must be done in pen.

TOPICS

1. FORMAL LETTER
You recently visited your favourite museum. Not only was it educational, but
the facilities and staff were very professional. Write a formal letter to the
museum, commenting on your experience and visit there. (25)

2. DIALOGUE
You saw a grade 8 student being bullied by an older student. Write down the
conversation you have with the grade 8 in response to this. (25)

3. FRIENDLY LETTER
Write a friendly letter to your grandparent/guardian explaining how you
conquered your bully at school. (25)

4. INTERVIEW
You are the presenter of your own television talk show. The special guest on
your show tonight is a talented, upcoming young painter / sport star / actor /
singer. Write down the interview that takes place. (25)
