Blockchain Technology 2
The invention of the blockchain technology by Satoshi Nakamoto in the year 1991, has
made it easy for firms and organizations to devise alternative currencies and transactions as well.
Additionally, blockchain has resulted to implementation of centralized banking and the methods
of transaction, by not only the handling of financial transactions, but also the alternative uses
changing the world drastically. Basically, blockchain can be defined as the distribution ledger
which helps in the maintenance of the ever-growing list of the transactions across various
networks distributed in over approximately ten thousand computers. This helps in extremely hard
for hacking of the system (Nofer, Gomber, Hinz & Schiereck, 2017). However, other than
cryptocurrency, blockchain technology has been adopted by other firms for different purposes.
One of the usage of the blockchain technology is for the prevention of voter fraud. Since
the year 2016, issues of cybersecurity as well as voter fraud have been exceptional concerns in
the United States. On the contrary, the 2016 election fraud was not the only time that voter
legitimacy raised concerns. Voter fraud has been defined as the critical imposition of production
and accountability formation of the democracy in different parts of the state. On the contrary,
adoption of the blockchain technology will result to the provision of unhackable electronic
system for the counting of votes (Ølnes & Jansen, 2017, September). Such a system will secure
the entire elections process during the voter’s registration, and for the accountability of the
identification of the voters.
As well, the blockchain technology will insure the votes can be hardly tampered with
even at a later date. In a similar manner the blockchain acts like public ledger in the
cryptocurrencies, this technology will also result to the creation of permanent public ledger for
the tallying of the votes. As a result, equitability of democracy during elections will be promised
to the voters all over the world. To curb the emerging issues of voter’s fraud blockchain

technology will be the most effective (Kim & Kang, 2017, April). Therefore, blockchain
technology has not only eased transactions in the cryptocurrency transactions but also in voting
system.
Adoption and the implementation of blockchain technology will also help in improving
the efficiency of the government. Incorporation of the blockchain technology in the government
activities will help in the acceleration of the capabilities of the government while affecting
various functions, for instance healthcare and even education. For example, most of the
processes of the government tend to be extremely slow, susceptible to corruption and even hard
to understand. Blockchain will be able to solve these government inefficiencies and the
enhancement of security as well (Routledge & Zetlin-Jones, 2018, August). Most hospitals in
the United States have archaic technology which results to the creation of unnecessary issues for
the patients and the records for these patients as well.
As a result, the adoption of blockchain technology in hospitals will aid the improvement
of the various logistics in the healthcare. According to research report presented by Media Lab
from MIT, MedRec is an example of blockchain technology in the healthcare sector. Media Lab
of MIT has defined MedRec as a novel decentralized system for the management of records.
ERMs will be used by the MedRec blockchain technology ideals for the management of the
authentication, sharing of data, accountability as well as accountability in the healthcare (Linn &
Koo, 2016). Issues of unauthorized data sharing in the healthcare sector will be totally mitigated,
enhancing the privacy of the patient’s information and sensitive information at large.
Implementation of blockchain technology in hospitals will help in improving safety and
the convenience as well. Most of the hospitals are transitioning from the paperwork in the event
of recordkeeping. The most incredible aspect of the blockchain technology in hospitals in

addition to the storage of the records is that the patients possessing these records will have the
key for accessing the digitalized records. What this means is that the patients will be able to
control the individuals who can access their information (Gordon & Catalini, 2018). Blockchain
technology in hospitals will therefore strengthen the laws and regulations of the HIPAA which
are designed for the protection of the privacy of the patients.
Although the blockchain technology and the entire firm at large has not yet been properly
and clearly defined, it is worth noting that its will be effective in the solving of the most common
human issues. Currently, blockchain technology is at the exploration stage, making it hard to
believe in its capabilities in solving world issues. On the contrary, the only way to solve the most
vulnerable human rights will be adoption and incorporation of the blockchain technology. For
instance, financial inequality, information accessibility and even corruption will be solved by
blockchain technology. Through the setting of international precedent, which is assumed to be
standard for purposes of transparency, blockchain technology will close the existing economic
gap. Moreover, blockchain technology will provide solution for the human right’s preservation.
As well, blockchain technology can be used for the purposes of tracking weapons. Most
of the hot topics in all the news networks is the issue of gun control and the weapons
accountability as well. It is believed that blockchain technology will play the crucial part in the
creation of transparency as well as establishment of unchanging network in the registry, allowing
the law enforcement departments and the federal government to track guns. Additionally,
blockchain technology will also aid in the tracking of the ownership of weapons (Hsieh &
Ravich, 2017). Also, it will be possible to keep records of the weapons that could have been sold
privately.

Basically, invention and the application of blockchain technology in firms, organizations
and in the government operations will help in enhancing accountability, transparency and even
enforcement of regulations. Issues of voter’s fraud will as well be completely mitigated,
prompting democracy and transparency in the voting process. As well, gun control measures in
the United States will be made easy by the adoption of blockchain technology in the security
departments. Privacy rights of patients will be protected in the hospitals due to the digitalization
of data and the restrictions in accessibility of the stored data. Blockchain technological
advancements will improve the transparency and accountability in the activities and processes of
the government.
