Blockchain-Based
Accident Alert
System
Abstract
This blockchain-based accident alert system integrates IoT sensors and
GPS to detect accidents in real-time, securely records data on a tamper-
proof blockchain, and automates responses using smart contracts.
Emergency alerts and insurance claims are processed instantly, reducing
response times and ensuring data transparency, fostering improved road
safety and operational efficiency.
Introduction
Road accidents often result in severe consequences due to delays in
detection and response. A blockchain-based accident alert system
revolutionizes emergency management by leveraging IoT sensors
and GPS for real-time accident detection, securely storing data on a
decentralized blockchain, and automating emergency notifications
and insurance claims through smart contracts, enhancing efficiency
and transparency.
Literature Review
• Fog-Based Accident Detection (2019): A fog-computing system enabling
localized accident detection reduced latency and improved emergency
responses.
• Fuzzy-PID Speed Control (2017): This method enhanced automatic
parking using a fuzzy-PID control system for better vehicle maneuverability.
• Video-Based Speed Control (2018): Vehicle speeds were estimated through
image processing, enabling real-time tracking and classification.
• Autonomous Vehicle Control (2017): An adaptive-PID controller improved
path tracking and stability for autonomous vehicles.
Problem Identification
Issues with Current Systems:
• Manual accident reporting delays
emergency response.
• Data tampering and fraud compromise trust
in post-accident processes.
• Lack of coordination between emergency
responders, insurers, and other stakeholders.
Impact:
• Increased fatalities and injuries due to
delayed responses.
• Inefficient insurance and legal processes
cause financial and procedural burdens.
Proposed System
• Accident Detection: IoT sensors capture and transmit crash details.
• Secure Data Logging: Blockchain ensures data integrity.
• Automated Alerts: Smart contracts notify
responders and initiate insurance claims.
• Incentive Mechanism: Rewards users for
reporting incidents.
• Benefits: Faster emergency response,
transparent processes, enhanced road
safety, and reduced response times.
