Part II: Discussion
6. State the four topologies of feedback amplifier, draw the block diagram for each topology,
and write the expression for the feedback factor β and the transfer gain A. [3p]
7. Write at least six comparisons of an ideal and practical operational amplifier (Op-amp)
characteristics? [3p]
Part III: WORKOUT
1) A three-stage OP-amp circuit is required to provide voltage gains of +10, –18 and –27.
Design the OP-amp circuit. Use a 270 kΩ feedback resistor for all three circuits. What
output voltage will result for an input of 150 µV? [5p]
2) A 1 pF capacitor is available. Calculate the inductor values in a Hartley oscillator so that
f = 1 MHz and β= 0.2. and find the open loop gain? [4p]
3) The output of an op-amp integrator can swing from +12 V to −12 V. The step input
shown in below is vi = 0 for t < 0 and switched at t = 0 to 5 V. The output voltage vo =
+12 V for t < 0. Plot the waveform. [6p]
4) in an astable 555 configuration, the external resistor R1=3.3kΩ. What must the value of
R2 to produce a duty cycle of 50 percent? [3p]
5) Power (brightness) of a 100W, 110 V tungsten lamp is to be varied by controlling the
firing angle of an SCR in a half-wave rectifier circuit supplied with 110 Va.c. find the
following parameter [6p]
A. DC voltage,
B. B) DC power, are developed in the lamp at firing angle α= 60°?
