ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
Being a second-year B.ED. student of Jamia Millia Islamia Department of Teacher
Training and Non-formal Education (IASE), we have been given the privilege of a
4-month school internship program, for which we foremost want to thank Allah, the
Almighty for giving us strength in completing our internship and then want to express
our deepest gratitude and special thanks to our in-charge Prof. TABASSUM NAQI who
despite being very busy with her duties took time to hear, guide and keep us on the
correct path.

We are also very thankful to the principal of Khadijatul Kubra Girls Public School, Ms.
UZRA JAMAL, who provided the necessary support to us to conduct a fruitful school
internship. The teaching as well as non-teaching staff provided us with the perfect
environment which made our project not just easier but also enjoyable.

We want to thank our students who were very well-behaved and enthusiastic about their
studies—the time we spent with them in the school taught us several things which we
somehow missed during our school days. It made us aware of different aspects which we
were unaware of till now. Undoubtedly, I could say that this teaching experience has
nourished our understanding of teaching and learning. We would also like to thank our
parents who remained like a backbone to our doings.

INTRODUCTION

Every school develops into a small community and sustains itself through the help of the
local community. The period of Teaching Practice helped us witness some of the
amazing features that a school possesses and the features that are developed in the
neighbourhood community of the school. It is undeniable that there are some great
teachers behind all successful men and women.

Teaching is a profession that is the mother of all occupations. Teachers are regarded as
the strong pillars of society. A teacher is like a potter who delicately shapes our
impressionable minds and moulds them into a vessel that defines our perceptions and
ambitions. Teaching is the centre of all education-related topics.

Therefore, as a student of the Institute of Education, we have to teach in real classrooms

as a trainee. Therefore, the Department of IASE sent B. Ed 2nd year (session 2023-
2025) students for the School Internship Program for some 4 months from 2nd
September to 21st December 2024. This internship was very helpful for us. Through
this, we learned many things such as how to control students in the classroom, how to
teach, how to organize any program and many more. So, this training was very
beneficial for all B. Ed 2nd year students.

The period of Teaching Practice gave us some insights that I have never understood in
our life. It seemed like a period of introspection, self-learning and improvement. We as
a group were the trainee teachers of the school. This was helpful because staying aloof
from the administration gave us observational capabilities in an unbiased manner. It
was our first exposure to the school system as part of the management. We as Trainee
teachers were bound to each other through the duty of providing education to young
minds. Each one of us was an expert in his/her subject and seemed naïve, confronting
the educational institution and observing it through our perspective. Providing
education and knowledge to young and ignorant minds and turning them into rational
beings can be attributed to the Noblest profession. To observe anything closely first one
has to dive into the unlimited possibilities the subject has to offer and then one has to
interlink these possibilities to the understanding that one has and arrive at a particular
conclusion.

“There are two educations. One should teach us how to make a living and the other
how to live.”
John Adams
As a part of our School Internship Program, we were supposed to organize a CCA and
NSS program all by ourselves in which we were supposed to conduct some NSS activities
and some Co-Curricular Activities with the students. No doubt that we have seen many
such programs and activities during our school life but this time the tables have turned,
we were supposed to organize these activities for the very first time which made us
realize that these things are not as easy as it seems from a distance. We planned and
prepared for this program for several days beforehand.
This whole experience of organizing a program was very enriching and exciting
at the same time we all did everything from scratch, the experience of housework that
we did in the first year of B.Ed. the program came in handy as we were supposed to
organize these co-curricular activities as a house for different competitions.

CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES (CCA)

Co-curricular refers to activities, programs, and learning experiences that complement,

in some way, what students are learning in school—i.e., experiences that are connected
to or mirror the academic curriculum. Co-curricular activities are typically, but not
always, defined by their separation from academic courses. For example, they are
ungraded, they do not allow students to earn academic credit, they may take place
outside of school or after regular school hours, and they may be operated by outside
organizations.
Co-curricular activities have become a fundamental part of school life and aid in
improving students' learning at school. These activities are mandatory & necessary for
every student to participate. Co-curriculars are structured and balanced with the
scholastic educational/ academic curriculum so that every student gets the opportunity
to learn beyond studies.
They are intended to bring social & intellectual skills, moral, cultural & ethical values,
personality development, and character advancement in students.
Essential skills that can be developed through co-curricular activities:

1. Developing self-awareness
2. Improving communication skills
3. Learning leadership qualities
4. Building confidence
5. Being motivated and having a positive attitude
6. Becoming a lifelong learner
7. Making responsible decisions
8. Understanding yourself better
9. Developing empathy
10. Contribute to society
What Are Co-Curricular Activities?

Co-curricular activities enrich and enhance the learning experience

of students by providing them with opportunities to apply their
knowledge, skills, and values in different situations and settings.
These activities complement the academic curriculum and play a
crucial role in the holistic development of students. They can be
organized by teachers or students to take place during or after school
hours, either on campus or off campus.

What is Planning?

Planning is ascertaining prior to what to do and how to do. It is one of the primary
managerial duties. Before doing something, the manager must form an opinion on how
to work on a specific job. Hence, planning is firmly correlated with discovery and
creativity. But the manager would first have to set goals. Planning is an essential step
what managers at all levels take. It needs holding on to the decisions since it includes
selecting a choice from alternative ways of performance.
Importance of Planning

Planning is definitely significant as it directs us where to go, it furnishes direction and

decreases the danger of risk by making predictions. The significant advantages of
planning are provided below:

Planning provides directions:

Planning assures that the objectives are certainly asserted so that they serve as a model
for determining what action should be taken and in which direction. If objects are well
established, employees are informed of what the company has to do and what they need
do to accomplish those purposes.
Planning decreases the chances of risk: Planning is an activity which permits a manager
to look forward and predict changes. By determining in prior the tasks to be completed,
planning notes the way to deal with changes and unpredictable effects.

Planning decreases overlapping and wasteful activities:

Planning works as the foundation of organising the activities and purposes of distinct
branches, departments, and people. It assists in avoiding chaos and confusion. Since
planning guarantees precision in understanding and action, work is conducted on easily
without delays.

Planning encourages innovative ideas:

Since it is the primary function of management, new approaches can take the form of
actual plans. It is the most challenging project for the management as it leads all
planned actions pointing to growth and of the business.

Planning aids decision making:

It encourages the manager to look into the future and make a decision from amongst
several alternative plans of action. The manager has to assess each option and pick the
most viable plan.

Steps in Planning the CCA Event

To ensure effective management, the first step was the formation of an organizing
committee comprising teachers, student representatives, and school administrators. The
