Our document focuses on concept of education planning. The types of educational
planning it's categories and subcategory and the importance of educational planning.
Video begins with defining main concept. Where it starts with defining planning and
educational planning. Planning refers to the act of deciding in advance what is to be
done, how and when to do it, where and who is to do it in order to achieve the goals or
objectives of system. Educational planning is process of identifying and classifying the
need of the country in terms of education. It also distinguish the country’s readiness in
developing education by making strategies, decisions, and such.
The video goes on with the educational planning types. We have three categories.we
have three categories of educational planning which are planning by time horizons, by
management level and by scope.
The first category, educational planning by time horizons based on the duration for
which the planning is made. We have three subcategory which are: Short time planning:
Where the planners make immediate actions and daily activities. Like A school principal
creating a timetable for the next semester or arranging a training program for teachers.
And also educational planning by time horizons contains we have medium-term
planning: Where they make planning in few years like 1-5 years. Example: A university
planning to introduce a new course in two years or a school deciding to increase the
number of science labs in three years. Educational planning by time horizons contains the
third subcategory which is long time level: Where it focuses on long-term goals and
vision Covers more than five years.Example: A government planning to build 100 new
schools in rural areas over ten years or developing a national policy for digital education
by 2035.
Second category, educational planning management level
We have strategic planning:undertake to define their vision, mission, goals, and
objectives, and to develop action plans to achieve them. We also have tactical
planning.Tactical planning refers to the process of developing specific actions and short-
term strategies to achieve particular objectives within an organization or project. There is
also operational planning which is the process of outlining the specific procedures and
processes necessary to achieve the goals set forth in strategic and tactical plans. It focuses
on the day-to-day operations of an organization, detailing how resources will be utilized
to meet objectives efficiently and effectively. We have standing planning which
includes educational policy, goals and procedures. Lastly we have single-use planning
this planning requires planning one activity like planning to rise fund of buying school
bus.
Third type of educational planning is planning by scope. We have macro-planning
which is planning on the regional planning, national and international. . National level
Focuses on education at the national level and is usually done by the government.
Example: A country planning to increase literacy rates by launching adult education
programs or developing a national education curriculum. we have micro-planning which
focuses on a specific school, college, or university or local entities or schools. Example:
A university planning to expand its library or a school planning to introduce a new sports
facility.
The importance of educational planning
Ensure efficient use of resources:This is is inorder to achieve those goals we have set in our
educational plan.In resources we have financial resources, human resources and material
resources.
Helps in achieving the educational goals: We have institutional goals, goals of our school and
department goals. We have different goals therefore educational planning helps us to achieve
those goals. Educational planning will help so as having this educational planning which will act
as the roadmap, blueprint or our guide inorder to achieve different educational goals
Addresses challenges: It will help to tackle different challenges which will arise such as population
growth, economic changes, and technological advancement. It will help us to solve different issues that
will arise because we we have thet road map which guide us.
To sum up we have seen the meaning of educational planning it's roles and the types of
educational planning. We have seen different categories of educational planning like planning
by time horizon, by management level and by scope level.and we have seen how educational
planning is useful to achieve educational goals and to tackle challenges we face in education
sector.
