EXPANDED CHECKLIST

GENERAL

Before power (electrical, hydraulic or pneumatic) can be safely applied to the


airplane, the external inspection must be made, either by qualified
technical/maintenance ground staff or by the pilot. Once power has been
applied to the airplane, the pilot performs the cabin inspection, the external
walkaround and the systems check (if required).

The cabin inspection and systems check are required.

 Before the airplane’s first flight of the day


 After a crew change
 After any related non-routine maintenance action
 If the airplane was left unattended by qualified personnel, or
 If the pilot-in-command has any doubt about the airplane status

 Set the dimming on each CRT display as follows:
o Decrease the DSPL knob on each LIGHTING panel on
the aft pedestal full counter clockwise.
o Using the master dimming knob on each EFIS, FMS and
RTU, adjust each display to a minimum level for the
embient lighting. The information shown on each display
should be visible.
o Now set the dimming on all displays to a comfortable
working level with the DSPL knobs on the LIGHTING
panels.
o The above procedure prevents loss of all information on
the displays, if a DSPL knob is inadvertently rotated OFF.

 Enter flight plan, SID, departure runway, temperature, fuel, etc.
 If accepting a SID for departure, go to TAKEOFF REF page 3/4 and
enter the REQ CLB GRAD and the associated LEVEL-OFF HT
above airport elevation.
 If an obstacle climb exists on takeoff, enter the OBST DIST from
reference zero (or alternatively from the departure end of the
runway) and OBST HT above the runway, as appropriate.
 After b) or c) above, check that the computed OCR CLB GRAD
(obstacle clearance reference climb gradient) shown meets or
exceeds the REQ CLB GRAD (no amber indications).
 Post the takeoff V-speeds by pushing the SEND button on the
FMST TAKEOFF REF page 2/4.

 Toggle the MAN AUTO selection to AUTO
