SAP Data Migration Developer Guide (Legacy to S/4HANA using LTMC)
Introduction
SAP Data Migration involves transferring data from legacy systems to SAP S/4HANA. The SAP
Migration Cockpit (LTMC) simplifies this process by offering predefined migration objects and an
intuitive interface for handling data transfer.
1. Project Planning & Preparation
- Identify legacy data sources (SAP ECC, databases, flat files, etc.)
- Define business objects to migrate (Materials, Vendors, Customers, etc.)
- Ensure SAP S/4HANA system has LTMC enabled and proper authorizations are granted
2. Data Extraction from Legacy System
Extract data using:
- SAP ECC: SE16, SQVI, or SAP BODS
- Non-SAP Systems: SQL queries
- Export data to Excel/CSV for further transformation
3. Data Transformation & Preparation
- Download the standard LTMC migration templates
- Populate templates with transformed data from legacy sources
4. Data Migration Using LTMC
- Access LTMC using transaction code LTMC
- Create a migration project and upload the prepared data templates
- Validate and map data fields before execution
5. Data Validation & Execution
- Run simulation to identify potential errors
- Execute migration once validation is successful
- Monitor logs for any failures
6. Post-Migration Testing
- Verify data integrity using SE16 in SAP
- Conduct business testing with end-users
- Run reconciliation reports to confirm successful migration
7. Go-Live & Support
- Plan and execute cutover activities
