Data Engineer

On behalf of our Client from the UK, Mobilunity is looking for a Data Engineer.
Our client is a prominent global fintech company committed to leveling the playing field for
small businesses. Since its founding in 2012, they have become the financial partner for over
4 million small merchants across 36 markets worldwide, aiding them in starting, running, and
growing their businesses.
You’ll be joining the Data Platform Team that is responsible for constructing the next-
generation data infrastructure efficiently and in a scalable manner to support the client’s data-
driven mindset, aiding millions of businesses in thriving. They want to accomplish this by
developing automated, scalable, and reusable tools for distributed domains to leverage.
Key Responsibilities:
• Contribute in shaping our Kafka Road Map, including security measures and the creation of a
reliable infrastructure. This involves the ability to operate the infrastructure in either its
Managed or Self-Hosted Service
• Enable SumUppers to have an easy and developer friendly platform to create, manage and
monitor their own Kafka infrastructure
• Help drive our stream processing platform, whether it be Apache Flink, Spark, or another
relevant technology
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement scalable and
reliable solutions
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues, ensuring the stability of critical data infrastructure
Must-have skills:
• 7+ years of experience as a Data Engineer and previous experience in maintaining critical
data infrastructure, specifically Kafka and stream processing services
• Comfortable with at least one of our other centre-of-gravity languages (Go, Python, Java,
Kotlin)
• Familiarity with our observability stack (Grafana, Prometheus, Honeycomb)
• Experience in Implementing Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) principles in daily work
• Product-focused mindset with a strong emphasis on creating impactful solutions
• Proven mentorship experience, guiding and developing other team members
• Proactive in creating documentation, Request For Comments (RFC), Solutions Designs
• Fluent English
