These materials (based on the CLP Modules) were designed to provide resources to the CFC CLP

Team Leader/s as a way to introduce the CFC KFC ministry to the children of the CLP participants.

The use of these materials is at the discretion of the CLP Team Leader and the service team; the
number children and their age group should likewise be taken into consideration.
MISSION STATEMENT

CFC Kids for Christ (KFC) is a family ministry of Couples for Christ (CFC).

It is a means of supporting CFC’s mission of bringing families back to the plan of God by providing
an environment that would assist the CFC parents in fulfilling this mission.

As a response to Jesus’ call, CFC Kids for Christ will:

1. Help the children enjoy a relationship with Jesus Christ in an environment that is fun and life-
giving in the company of their friends, and

2. Create an atmosphere where Christian values can be shared, practiced, developed, and
experienced

We believe in the “4F” principle in building the KFC environment:

• FUN - Have activities which the children find exciting and enjoyable

• FRIENDSHIP – Find ways to encourage the members to build strong friendship with one
another

• FAITH – All activities are geared towards their relationship with God

• FREEDOM - The children are respected for what and who they are. They can be trusted and
given responsibilities.

What KFC is and what KFC is not

KFC IS:
 A children’s club, where the children feel accepted and appreciated for who they are
… children of God

 A place where Christian values taught by the parents are shared, practiced,
experienced, and reinforced within a peer group environment

 A place where the children have fun, knowing they have friends

 A place where they feel they belong, just as their parents belong to CFC, their older
brothers and sisters belong to CFC Youth for Christ or CFC Singles fro Christ, or
their aunts to CFC Handmaids of the Lord, or their uncles to CFC Servants of the
Lord

What KFC is not:

x An outreach of CFC, but an integral part of its life and mission; service in KFC is just
as essential and important as service in CFC and in the other ministries

x A formal school

x A day-care centre, a place where parents can leave their children while attending
to other activities

x A catechetical instruction group or a Sunday school type of program

The Covenant of the KFC Member

Children of CFC members are automatically considered as members of KFC.

They are acknowledged as full-fledged members of the KFC after joining the Junior Kids Day
(for 4-8 year olds) or the Senior Kids Camp (for 9-12 year olds).

At the end of the Senior Kids Camp, the children will be led to commit to the following:

1. I will pray to God everyday

2. I will always respect and obey my parents and elders
3. I will always be good to my brothers, sisters, classmates and friends
4. I will study my lessons well
5. I will tell others about Jesus
Typical Schedule of a KFC Session

(Based on the 4F principle of KFC – Fun, Faith, Friendship and Freedom)

It is important to take into consideration the children’s age group (4 – 8 Year old & 9-12
year old).

• Older kids should be given the task of helping if the activity is

designed for younger kids.

• If there are a large number of older kids then a separate activity

should be carried out.

If Jesus Came To Your House

Lois Blanchard Eades

If Jesus came to your house to spend a day or two- If

He came unexpectedly, I wonder what you'd do.

Oh, I know you'd give your nicest room to such an Honored Guest. And all the food
you'd serve to Him would be the very best.

And you would keep assuring Him you're glad to have Him there- That serving Him
in your own home is joy beyond compare.

But--when you saw Him coming, would you meet Him at the door. With arms
outstretched in welcome to your Heavenly Visitor?

Or would you have to change your clothes before you let Him in? Or hide some
magazines and put the Bible where they'd been?

Would you turn off the radio and hope He hadn't heard? And
wish you hadn't uttered that last, loud, hasty word?

Would you hide your worldly music and put some hymn books out? Could you let
Jesus walk right in, or would you rush about?

Who is Jesus Christ? If
Jesus came…

And I wonder--if the Saviour spent a day or two with you, Would you go right on
doing the things you always do?

Would you go right on saying the things you always say? Would
life for you continue as it does from day to day.

Would your family conversation keep up its usual pace?

And would you find it hard each meal to say a table grace?

Would you sing the songs you always sing, and read the books you read, And let Him
know the things on which your mind and spirit feed?

Would you take Jesus with you everywhere you'd planned to go? Or would you,
maybe, change your plans for just a day or so?

Would you be glad to have Him meet your very closest friends? Or would you hope
they'd stay away until His visit ends?

Would you be glad to have Him stay forever on and on?

Or would you sigh with great relief when He at last was gone?

It might be interesting to know the things that you would do

If Jesus Christ in person came to spend some time with you.

2. Bible verses:
“I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me’-
(John10:14)

If we are truly to be Christians (His sheep or flock) we should know (and) love
Jesus (Good shepherd), and follow His commands. “The most important one,”
answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one,
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all
your mind and with all your strength,’ The second is this: Love your
neighbour as yourself.’ There is no greater
commandment greater than these.” (Mark12:29-31)

What It Means To Become A Christian

The Bible is full of stories about interesting people and the amazing things they've gone through.
There's Jonah and the whale, David and the Lion's Den, and Noah's Ark just to name a few. All
these stories are very interesting, but there is one common thing about them all, God listened
and helped all these people.
Even though these stories happened many, many, many years ago, God was always there for them
and he can do the same for you. Even though these men couldn't see God, they seemed to know that
He was always with them and trusted Him.
If we believe in God and obey what he said we ask a special part of Jesus to live inside us, that's what
it means to become a Christian, Christ-in you.
When you ask to Jesus into your heart it's just like accepting a gift from God. When someone gives
you a gift do you take it and open it up or do you give it back because you don't want it?
When we accept the gift of Jesus amazing things automatically happen. We become a part of God's
family and His family is full of people who believe in God and have asked Jesus to live in them too.
Another great thing that happens is that Jesus' Spirit comes to live in us. That means a part of Jesus
will always be with us, so if we're ever in trouble, scared, or need someone to talk to He will always
be there.
The last exciting thing about becoming a Christian is that we will someday get to live in heaven with
God and all of His family. Heaven is a wonderful place God has made for us to live with
Him. There is no hurt or sickness there, just happiness all the time (we might even be able to fly)!
We'll also be able to see God everyday and live with Him. Heaven is a place God has saved for all
those who believe in Him, who have asked Him into their hearts, and who try to live the way he
wants us to. God made earth for everyone, so imagine how great God's home will be for just the
people that love Him. It's a place where we will live forever!
If you want to become a Christian and have 'Christ-in' you there are a few important things you need
to know and believe:

• God loves you and made you for a reason.

That means God loves you know matter what you've done. He made us even though He knew we
wouldn't be perfect, but He wants us to do our best to live the way He asks us to in the Bible.

What it means to become a Christian…

Activity (age 9 - 12)

CLP Kids Activities Guide
We're alive because God made us for a reason. By using the talents he gave you and sharing his love,
you will be doing the special thing God made you for.
• We sin which makes us separate from God.

Sin is doing something we shouldn't do. That includes bad thoughts or being jealous of others, how
we talk, and the bad things we do (and we all have sinned over and over again)! The trouble is that
God can't stand sin because He's perfect. Ever since Adam and Eve ate from the tree in the garden
God couldn't have the same relationship with us. So...

• Jesus came to earth to die on the cross so that our sin (the things we do wrong) could be
forgiven and then He rose from the dead.

Now we can have a better relationship with God because when Jesus died he took the punishment we
deserve for all our mistakes. Our sin is like dirt. If we get dirty, we have to do something to wash it
off. So when we ask for forgiveness (or say we're sorry to God) God washes the sin away and he
sees us as clean or perfect and we can have a relationship with Him again.

• Now I want to obey God and do what He wants. I want to please God and do things his way
instead of doing things my own way.

That's the free gift! By asking Jesus into your life and trying to live your life to please Him, God
forgives you and you will be able to live with God forever in Heaven! Being a Christian is great, but
that doesn't mean it will always be easy. There is still 'bad' in the world but as Christians we always
have God and other Christians to turn to. You will never be alone again!
Some people (even adults) think that as long as they're nice to others and do the right thing or if their
parents are Christians that will get them into heaven someday, but that's not true. You have to
decide that you accept God's gift and tell God you want it. Once you do that Jesus automatically
lives in you.
If you've decided that you want to accept the free gift you need to talk to God and tell him that. Here
is a prayer that you can say:
Jesus I'm sorry for all the things I've done wrong and I want to say I'm sorry and ask for
forgiveness. I believe that Jesus died on the cross for me to pay for my mistakes. I invite you to
come into my life so you can wash all the sin away. From now on I'm going to try to please you.
Thank-you for loving me Jesus! Amen.
If you've prayed that prayer you're a Christian! Jesus lives inside of you right now and he's washed
all the sin away!
"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold all things are
become new." 2 Corinthians 5:17;

"But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on
his name." John 1:12

Julie Loves Going To Church
by Deacon Tom Frankenfield

Once again it was Sunday morning. Father was driving the family to Church just like he had
done for most of the Sunday's in Julie's 6 years of life (or at least for as long a Julie could
remember.) On this day, Julie scampered to the car and jumped in the back seat before
anyone else was out of the house. Julie was excited because Sunday was a great day for her
whole family, including her big brothers, Eric and James.

This morning Julie was singing and humming in the back seat of the car where she sat
between her brothers.

Dad asked Julie, "My sweet Julie, why are you so happy today?"

"Daddy, because we are going to Church”.

"Tell me about Church?" Dad asked further.

"Church is the best because it is fun and Sunday in my favourite day of the week" said Julie
with a giggle.

"Why is that?" said Mother

"Lots of reasons," Julie blurted out with enjoyment. "Well, the people at church are really
nice; plus, I love singing with the music; also, I like going to Bible classes and finally, I love
going out to brunch with all the families when Church is over."

"Well, that is nice but what about God? Isn't Sunday special because it is the Lord's Day?"
asked her brother Eric.

"Of course, Eric, Jesus is why we celebrate the Lord's Day. When we go to church we get to
see how much Jesus loves us. Plus all the fun we have and good stuff we eat are gifts from
God" replied Julie with a frown as she poked her brother.

Soon they arrived at Church. When they got into church Julie ran into the sacristy and found
the pastor. She pulled Father's vestments and said, "Father, I need to talk to you, our family
has a problem."

"Yes, Julie?" the priest said as he bend down to talk face to face with Julie.

"Father, you need to do a better job of explaining to the Church why Sunday is the best day
of the week and how Jesus loves us so much that he makes us happy."

Why is that my little friend?" asked the priest.

What it means to be a Christian Julie
loves going to church…

"Yikes, I had to explain to my parents and my brothers all about Jesus and music and sharing
meals with them on the way over here. They seemed confused and asked me lots of
questions." said Julie in a very concerned fashion.

Is that right, Julie?" asked the priest.

"So, if they have lots of questions, I think the rest of the people might have them too." Julie
continued.

Father laughed aloud and said, "Julie that we are lucky to have great Catholics like you in our
parish family.

Later Father shared Julie's concern with the whole community during his homily. They all
enjoyed the story.

Julie winked at the cross and whispered to Jesus under her breath. "I love you Jesus and I
think I am getting the rest of my family to love you too." http://www.holyspiritinteractive.net

The Fifth Commandment - Don't Hurt Others

by Deacon Tom Frankenfield

Our friends, Peter and Paul, were there with their parents for a
summer holiday at a beautiful tropic island that was popular
with tourists throughout the world. The island's shiny blue
water was cool and refreshing. The glistening white sand was
perfect for making sandcastles and running. Peter and Paul
were on the beach making castles after spending the past hour
playing in the water. They were having a great time and their
smiles were just beaming.

Suddenly two unfamiliar boys came running by their blanket and made loud noises.

"Bang, bang" said the older boy with his thumb in the air and his index finger pointing
forward in the shape of a gun. The younger boy rolled around in the sand
and said "Bang!" to the older boy using his hand in the very same way.

These boys were loud and snorted at while they were pretending to shoot
one another. Finally, the older boy dropped into the sand, pretending
death while the other boy acted like a great champion. Then they both
laughed and ran away.

After seeing this, Peter and Paul made guns out of their fingers in order to imitate the other
boys. Peter said, "Bang!"

At that very moment, their mother said, "Boys, please stop doing that immediately!"

Startled, Peter said, "Mom, we were just playing and our friends play this way all of the time
at school."

Mom asked Peter and Paul to come to the beach chairs--it was time for
a little chat. They needed to explain God's plan for respecting human
life and for honouring the dignity of all persons.

Dad said, "Many years ago, God gave commandments to Moses, the
fifth one said that we should not kill." So, we must not hurt or harm
anyone, but help them and be a friend.

"Oh come on, we were not killing anyone, we were just playing" said Paul.

Dad said, "Of course, you were not killing but you were pretending to kill. That is not a fun
game to play. You were playing at something that is wrong."

Don’t Hurt Others…

Mom then said, "Life is so special, I remember the days you were both born and I held you in
my arms." Mom sighed and said further, "Oh, all the dreams and wishes I have for you. I
could not imagine you being killed. Or you being someone who would pretend to take that
dream away from another mother by killing their child."

Dad said, "If you are going to have fun, play games that make life special. Take part in sports;
make each other laugh, run and play. These all are way to enjoy life."

Finally, Mom said, "Boys, killing is against God's law. God wants you to obey the laws so you
can benefit from God's love for you. God loves you more than you can imagine. God also has
wishes and hoped and dreams for you! Being a person who respects life is a person who can
enjoy all of the people God has made and most of all, it allows you to be truly happy."

"Wow! We are sorry, Paul and I should not pay killing games," said Peter. With that, the boys
ran off into the water.

Mom and Dad just hugged one another and were proud that their children did not choose to
make killing a game.

My friends, even though many of kids pretend at games that shoot and kill--be special. God wants you
to be special. Be like Paul and Peter, don't play the killing games, so you can have a happy life in
God's love.

Keep smilin', Deacon

Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and
everyone who loves the father loves his child as well. This is how
we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and

JONAH
One day God asked a man named Jonah to go to a place called Nineveh and tell the people
living there to stop being bad. The only problem was that Jonah didn't want to help the people
there. He knew they were bad and he wanted them to be punished for their mistakes.

So instead of listening to God, Jonah thought he would run away from Nineveh and not do
what God asked him. He ran to the sea where he found a ship that was going to another
city. He paid the captain, went in the lower part of the boat and went to sleep.

Shortly after the boat left the shore, a very bad storm came up and started tossing the boat
around. All the men were very afraid so they started to throw all their packages and bags
overboard in hopes that they wouldn't drown.

The captain soon went to find Jonah who was still sound asleep in the boat. He said to
Jonah, "How can you sleep? Get up and pray to your god, maybe he can help us!" The
captain didn't realize that Jonah didn't just believe in any God but the one true God and that
He could help them.

Meanwhile, the other sailors decided that the storm was Jonah's fault. He must have done
something wrong to make his god so angry. So they asked Jonah, "What have you done?
What god do you believe in? What can we do to make this storm stop?"

Jonah told them, "I believe in the Lord, the God of heaven, who made the sea and the land
and I am running away from something God asked me to do. It is my fault this is happening.
If you throw me into the sea the storm will stop."

CLP Kids Activities Guide
Faith

The men didn't want to hurt Jonah by throwing him off

the boat so they tried to row the best they could, but the
storm just got worse. So they picked up Jonah and
threw him into the sea. The storm immediately calmed
and the sea became still. The men on the boat realized
that Jonah believed in the one true God and prayed to
Him.

Then the captain and the crew looked out to sea as a

huge fish came and swallowed up Jonah. God actually
sent the fish to keep Jonah from drowning. Jonah
stayed in the fish for three days and three nights.
Story of Jonah…

Just think for a second what it would be like to be inside a fish. There are no windows, and
lots of strange things floating around that you can't see because it's so dark. Other than
that I'm not sure what it would be like, but Jonah probably didn't know if he would ever see
daylight again.

While Jonah was trapped inside the fish he did a lot of praying to God. He asked God to
forgive him for running away. He also thanked God
for not allowing him to drown.

After the third day God told the fish to spit Jonah out
onto dry land. And the fish did just that. Jonah was
happy to be out of the dark belly of the fish, but boy,
did he need a shower. He was slimy and smelly.

Then the Lord told Jonah a second time to go to

Nineveh and tell the people there to stop being bad.
This time Jonah obeyed God and left for Nineveh
right away.

When Jonah got there he told the people what had

happened to him. He warned them that God said that they should stop doing bad things or
in forty days the city and everything in it would be destroyed. To Jonah's surprise the
people listened to him and they prayed to God and they said sorry for all the bad things
they had done.

Soon the king of Nineveh heard what was going on and he ordered that everyone to listen
to God and to stop doing bad things. And when God saw that they were trying to do good
instead of bad He felt love for them and did not destroy their city.

That could be the end of the story except Jonah left the city very angry. He was mad that
God didn't punish the people. He knew that God was a loving God and didn't want to
destroy anything if he doesn't have to.

So Jonah went on a hill and sulked. God saw Jonah and knew how he was feeling so he
explained to Jonah that He loves everyone (after all He made us). He doesn't like to
destroy people who are doing things bad, God would rather see us turn from our bad ways
and do good again.

The First Commandment - Loving God with All Your Heart

By Deacon Tom

Christian Ideal: Loving God
The day was rainy and damp. So, Amanda and Nicky were stuck in the house looking for exciting
things to do. However, they were bored and started to do odd things.

Nicky started making noises. "Grrrrr!" said Nicky as he sneaked up behind

Amanda. That really annoyed Amanda. So, she started to push Nicky away.
She said, "Nicky, stop being so dumb!"

Nicky just laughed and then started to jump up and down making a "hissing"
sound like a snake. Finally, Amanda tackled Nicky while screaming, "Stop! You
little pest!"

Hearing the fuss, Aunt Helen ran into the room. She separated them and asked them to spend some
time in their rooms thinking about the things that are really important to them. She told them to write
a list of all the things or people they loved the most in life.

In short time, Aunt Helen asked to see the lists the kids made. "Very interesting!" said Aunt Helen.
"I see things like baseball, candy, music, movies, television, video games, stuffed animals and even
chocolate but I don't see God's name anywhere."

Aunt Helen said, "All these things on their lists were great but to be truly happy, you
need to make God your first love. You need to make God the centre of your lives. You
must love the Lord our God with all your hearts."

Aunt Helen told them that making other things the most important thing is breaking
the 1st Commandment. "I AM the Lord your God and I shall not have others
gods before me."

"What are other gods?" said Amanda? Aunt Helen said, ""Other gods" can be things we love more
than God."

Nicky thought for a minute and said, "That must mean that if going to a baseball game is more
important to me than anything else, it is a god! Aunt Helen just smiled. Amanda said "I guess that
1st commandment is for us today because we made all the fun things in life our gods"

"It looks like you both understand." said Aunt Helen as she hugged them. She said,
"If you learn to trust and love God with all your heart, you will have life at its best."

As a reward for learning about the 1st Commandment, Aunt Helen made their
favourite ice cream sundaes. You can be sure the Amanda and Nicky were smiling.

Dear children, keep in mind, God wants all of your love. Give your love to God.
God then will give you lots more love than you can ever dream about. Then you can
give that love to other people and this gift of love can continue for a long time.

LET THERE BE PEACE ON EARTH

Let there be peace on earth,
and let it begin with me.
Let there be peace on Earth, the
peace that was meant to be.

With God as our Father,

brothers all are we,
Let me walk with my brother,
in perfect harmony.

Let peace begin with me, let

this be the moment now.
With every step I take, let

The Good Samaritan….
Activity

By Jennifer Edwards

Johnny, Sam, and Charles were walking home from school one
fine June afternoon. Sam was thinking about how much fun they
would all have playing ball in the nearby field. Meanwhile, Johnny
was asking Charles to give him the video game he had just gotten
for his birthday.

Charles said, "No! You can't have my new present. But maybe if your
parents don't mind, you can come over and play with me," he cheerfully
added.

Then Johnny said in a mean voice, "I don't want to play with you.
I want it for myself!"

"Maybe your mom can get you one for your birthday."

"But I want it now!" Johnny said. With that, he swiped Charles'

book bag and then dashed down the street with it.

Charles started crying as he watched Johnny take the game out of

the book bag. Johnny then threw down the bag and ran around the corner,
where he waited for Charles to catch up.

CLP Kids Activities Guide
Loving Your Neighbor
When Charles came around the corner, Johnny wrestled him to the
ground and said, "Now, don't you think it would be easier to
just cooperate?" Johnny walked off and went home, as if
nothing had ever happened.

Sam watched on in horror from behind. He sat down

on the guardrail and thought about what to do.

Meanwhile, some of the other neighbourhood kids came along. Paul

went to the corner and found another way home. Mike walked around and
said nothing. But Sam knew this was not right. He walked over to Charles,
picked up his book bag, and helped him get home.

When they got to Charles' house, Sam asked him to go and play ball
with him in the field. They enjoyed themselves and had a great time!

The next day at school, everyone asked Sam why he was nice to
Charles. Sam replied, "I just did what I thought was right. It was not fair
to leave him alone and hurt, when I could help him, even if he HAS only
been in the neighbourhood only a few weeks, and we've all been here a
long time."

One day a lawyer came to Jesus and asked, "What should I do to get to
heaven?"

Jesus answered, "What does the law say?"

"You should love the Lord with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all
your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbour as yourself," the lawyer
replied.

"That's right," Jesus said. "If you do all of that, you will be able to get to
heaven."

The Good Samaritan….
But the lawyer, thinking he could ask Jesus a question that could not be
answered, asked, "But who is my neighbour?"

CLP Kids Activities Guide
Loving Your Neighbor
The Good Samaritan….

Jesus answered him by telling this story:

One day, a man who was travelling from a far away city, suddenly met up with a
group of thieves. The thieves took everything he had, and then they beat him up and
left him lying half dead by the side of the road.

As he lay there in pain and misery, he heard footsteps. "Ah! Someone is

coming!" he thought. "I hope he will help me! . . . I hope it isn't one of the same men
who beat me up, coming back to find out if I am dead." He waited and listened for
what seemed like hours, as the footsteps faded in the distance.

It happened to be a priest who came by, but when he saw the man lying beside
the road, he decided to take a different road because he was in a hurry and didn't
want to be bothered.

The poor man was certainly glad that it wasn't one of the robbers, but he surely
wished SOMEBODY would come along to help him.

After a little while, he heard footsteps again.... He wanted to call out and get
the attention of the person walking by, but he was in so much pain, all he could do was
moan. "Maybe this person will see me and help me," he thought anxiously.

This time the man who passed by was a Levite, a well-known teacher in the
temple. SURELY HE would want to help the poor man. But when he saw the man lying on
the side of the road, he looked down . . . then turned his head . . . then walked right by,
completely ignoring the poor, hurting man.

CLP Kids Activities Guide
Loving Your Neighbor
The Good Samaritan….

It wasn't long until the man heard ANOTHER set of footsteps. He wanted to
believe that this person would reach down to help him, but he had already been passed
by twice and dared not even hope for relief. By this time, he had given up all hope and
was sure he was going to die right there on the side of the road.

The man who was travelling down the road this time was a stranger from
Samaria. Nobody even liked people from Samaria. It was very unlikely that he would
want to help. But as he passed by, he noticed the man who was lying beaten and bloody
on the side of the road. He felt sorry for him and wanted to help. He got off his
donkey and bent down next to the man to get a closer look at the wounds. Gently, he
wrapped bandages around the sores and helped him to his feet. THEN . . . he carefully
put the man on his very own donkey, and took him to the nearest hotel. He stayed with
the man overnight and took care of him.

The next morning he had to leave, but he knew he couldn't take the man with
him. When he paid the bill, he gave the innkeeper extra money, saying, "Take care of
him, feed him, and make sure he has everything he needs. If he owes you any money
after he gets well and leaves, write it down, and I will pay the bill the next time I
come by."

Jesus, after finishing the story, asked the lawyer, "Which of these three men
was a neighbour to the stranger on the street?"

The lawyer sheepishly answered, "The one who stopped and helped him."

And Jesus said, "That's right. Now YOU go and do the same."

THINK!

How many people passed by the wounded man?

How many people stopped to help the wounded man?
How did the Samaritan show kindness to the wounded man? Who
is your neighbour?

REMEMBER:

Loving God includes showing love to all people.

A VERSE TO LEARN

"Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself" (Galatians 5:14).

LET'S PRAY…

Dear God, help me to be kind today even if people
are not kind to me. Help me to do what you want

We’re glad that you have come to share your life with us
As we grow in love and may we always be to you
What God would have us be a family always there
To be strong and to lean on (Repeat)

May we learn to love each other more with each new day
May words of love be on our lips in ev’rything we say
May the Spirit melt our hearts and teach us how to pray That we

family of Jesus to fulfil His mission on earth, like us in the
CFC we have the mission to bring families closer to Jesus, and
be a Christian family , who love and care for each other.
(Describe a Christian family.)

2) Group the older kids and instruct them to share among their
group their role in building a happy Christian family. The
junior group may do the same, “what can I do to help make my
family happy”? Each group may write or draw their answers.

c. Ask each group to share.

The Holy
Family of
Nazareth
The Incarnation of the Word of God,
the Messiah, had to take place as prophesied. God in His Wisdom decided to have the
purest of creatures, the Blessed Virgin Mary as the mother of His only begotten Son.
He chose Joseph a chaste and just man to spouse Mary in a special relationship of
chastity, where He would care for Mary and the holy infant Jesus.

Mary cared for Jesus, as the most special of mothers, Joseph worked as a carpenter. He
provided for Jesus and Mary and protected them.

Devotion to the Holy Family has brought many blessings to families throughout the
centuries.

Let us ask the Holy Family to bless our families.

God's Gift of Love for Your Mother and

Father
by Deacon Tom Frankenfield

Amanda and Nicky love parties! The food and the laughter are always great! Amanda and
Nicky especially loved seeing all the people. Of course, everyone is happy to invite Amanda
and Nicky because they are SUPER kids!

One day Amanda and Nicky were at one of these special family
parties when Amanda went into the kitchen and gave a big hug to
Aunt Helen. "Aunt Helen, I really love you and I think you are really
cool" said Amanda. "Do you want to know what I really like to do?"

"No, tell me" said Aunt Helen while giving Amanda a huge hug.

"I would like to spend time alone with you-just two girls" said Amanda with a big grin.

"That sounds like fun Amanda, let's go for a walk in the woods behind the house?" said Aunt
Helen as she started towards the kitchen door.

So Aunt Helen and Amanda started an "all girls" walk in the woods while Nicky ran into the
basement to watch the baseball game on television.

While they were walking, Amanda said, "I love my whole

family with all my heart. Sometimes, I even feel a tingle
deep inside but I don't understand why."

Amanda stopped and looked up at Aunt Helen and said,

"I even feel this love when they were not with me.
Sometimes I just think of them and I feel a special
love."

With a tear in her eye, Aunt Helen said, "Amanda that is

so special! Why do you think you feel this way?"

Amanda said, "Aunt Helen, I think God puts a warm spot in our hearts for those who are close
to us like our family and special friends. So, when we think of them we feel that special tingle.
I feel that special tingle in a strong way when I think of my Mom and Dad."

"Amanda that is right! Aunt Helen said. "That also happens to me when I am with my children
and your Uncle Denny. That warm feeling is so special, isn't it?

"Oh yes is it a warm feeling. How long will it last?" wondered Amanda.

CLP Kids Activities Guide
The Christian Family God’s Gift of Love for
your Mother& Father…
Aunt Helen explained, "God gives everyone a special amount of His love called 'grace.' Grace
helps in times of trouble and also it helps make our love stronger and it lasts forever. God
gives us lots of grace for our family. God want us to honor and love our parents all the days of
our lives whether they are with us or are far away.

"Really?" asked Amanda with a funny faced smile.

Aunt Helen said more, "Amanda, whether our parents, or family are in the
same room, in a far away country or even in heaven, your love will always
keep strong. In fact, God thinks it is so important that he made it the Fourth
Commandment. God wrote that we should Honour our Mother and our
Father all the days of our lives."

Amanda said, "That was really a nice thing God did to give us that grace to
love everyone in the same way that I love my parents." She put her arms around Aunt Helen
and her face glowed with a huge smile.

Then Aunt Helen and Amanda walked back to the party with that warm feeling in their hearts
because by sharing God's love, they loved each other in a special way.

Nicky ran up to them and said, "Where have you been hiding?"

Aunt Helen and Amanda just laughed.

To my good friends, the main duties of children are to love God and their parents with all their
hearts. So, when you do good things you not only honour parents but we honour our family
name which goes on forever. Plus obeying goes onward to, family, teachers and adults in
authority. This will make your life happier and more pleasing to all, especially God.

Keep smilin', Deacon

The dove is the symbol of peace, as well as the Holy Spirit.

As a peace symbol it recalls the Arc of Noah.

Gen. 8:10-11. "He waited another seven days, and again he sent out the dove from the ark;
and the dove came back to him in the evening, and there in its beak was a freshly plucked
olive leaf; so Noah knew that the waters had subsided from the earth. "

The dove is a symbol of the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity and in Matthew 3:16 "And
when Jesus had been baptized, just as he came up from the water, suddenly the heavens were opened
to him and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. "

Growing in the Spirit

CLP Kids Activities Guide
Introduction:
Previously we have discussed the gifts of the Holy Spirit which are
(children’s participation). And today, we are going to learn the difference
between good and bad and how to use God’s gifts to us in our daily lives.

Activity:
Choose two out of the four prepared materials namely:

1. How do I show God’s love to others....?

2. God, please forgive me for my wrongdoings. These are:
3. 1 have accepted Jesus as my savior. He has forgiven me for my past
wrong doing and as part of my new life I will try to 4. God’s
gifts to me are

Or depending on the number of kids, you can divide them into 2 groups, 4
to 8 yrs old and 9 to 12 yrs old. Nos. 1 and 2 of the activity materials can
be for the 9 to 12 and Nos. 3 and 4 will be for the 4 to 8 yrs old.

(Spend 15 minutes doing the activity then 15 minutes presentation,

individual or group depending on the number of children.)

In conclusion, we will teach you how to pray to Jesus everyday in a

simple way. (E.g. it would be good to talk to Jesus like how you talk to
your mum and dad, you can tell Him anything you want to say like asking
for help in school homework or thanking him for a toy received.)

Growing in the Spirit The Fruit of the

Spirit Today we are going to talk about fruit. Do
you like fruit? What is your favourite fruit? All fruit is

CLP Kids Activities Guide
different. It tastes different, it looks different and it feels
different in your mouth (sometimes fruit is crunchy,
sometimes soft, sometimes juicy, etc.)
The Bible talks about fruit but it’s a different kind of fruit, it's called the fruit of the Spirit. The fruit
of the Spirit is a little like real fruit because they are each special and different too.

It's really neat because when we ask Jesus to live in us his Spirit stays with us and He will give us
some of this special fruit. As we grow and learn more about Jesus, the Spirit will give us more and
more fruit and become more Christ-like.

I will tell you in a minute what this special fruit is but first I want to explain how God can be God,
Jesus (His son) and the Spirit all at the same time.

**It might be a good lesson to introduce the trinity since we're talking about the Spirit. I like to use
the analogy of water. Water can be a liquid, ice and steam they are all different but they are all
forms of water. That is how the trinity is. They are all part of the same person but all are different
and do different things. It would be a good idea if you could bring examples of each of these things
for the children to see. A glass of water, some ice cubes, and a kettle of steaming water (watch out
with that one).

The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and
self control. All of these fruits are good to have and the Spirit wants to give them to us.

God wants us to try to be good and have the fruit of the spirit in us. We can try to have love, joy,
peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control but the Spirit will give
us the kind of gifts he wants us to have. It's hard to do it on our own, we need the Spirit to help us
with each of these things.

Just in case you don't know what each of the fruit of the spirit means I'm going to try to explain them.
I think the easiest fruit of the spirit to explain is love. Think of someone that loves you no matter
what. You can make mistakes and it doesn't matter what you look like, but they still love you. God
loves us too, no matter what; he even loves you more than your parents! He can help us love others
the way we should.

The next fruit is joy. Joy is like being very, very happy, it’s being happy inside even when things
aren't going great. Again, we can try to be joyful but only God can give us the kind of happiness that
makes us joyful, we can't just be joyful on our own.

When we think of peace, we usually think of no more fighting or war. That is right, but the peace of
the spirit is a bit different. This is the peace we get when we get to know God really well (by reading
the Bible, praying, asking questions, etc). If we have this peace we will feel calmness inside and
know that all our sins are confessed and that God forgives us.

CLP Kids Activities Guide
Receiving the Power of the Holy Spirit The
Fruit of the Spirit…
Patience is the next one and I'm sure we know what this means. Have you ever been told to have
patience? The patience God is talking about is for those little things like waiting to open your
Christmas presents or being patient to go to the park. But it also means to be patient for answers to
prayer that might take years to be answered.

Next is kindness and it should be easy although sometimes it's not. Is it easy to be kind to someone
who has been mean to you or to a beggar on the street? When God gives us this gift, its more than
just being kind to others. He might help us be kind to someone who really needs it and we're not even
aware of it. For example, maybe you feel like you should write a letter or call a grandparent. God
might be urging you to do that because they are having a bad day and that's exactly what they need to
cheer them up. Sometimes your kind deed to someone else is all they need to remember that someone
special loves them.

Being good or goodness is the next fruit of the spirit. Having the gift of goodness means God can
depend on me to be honest, repent of my sins, and turn away from bad things. We also need to try to
act this way towards others through our actions so they can see the fruit in us. The only true goodness
we have is the goodness of God living in us.

Faithfulness is next and this one might be a little trickier to understand. Being faithful is keeping
your promises, being a loyal friend even when times get tough, being trustworthy and doing the things
you said you would do. When I think of faithfulness I think of my grandma who prayed for me every
single day of her life. She was faithful in praying for me, which also meant that she prayed everyday.

When I think of gentleness I think of holding a brand new baby. For some reason we think they might
break if we don't hold them so carefully. The kind of gentleness God is talking about is similar to this.
No matter what situation comes up we are supposed to be gentle. That doesn't mean we shouldn't stick
up for ourselves, if someone is doing something you know is wrong you should still tell an adult or
tell them to stop. Just do it in a gentle way like Jesus would do it.

The last fruit is self control and is a very important one, it means to be in control of what we say and
do. Without self control we can't do the things we should. To be able to live the way God wants we
have to be in control of the things we do. Just like when a brother or sister bugs you so much you just
want to hit them, we know that we have to control ourselves and not hit them. We know we just can't
do whatever we feel like sometimes because it’s not right and we'd be punished.

Just remember that with all these gifts we need help from God to be able to use the gifts properly. We
need to remember that God made us and he is perfect. If you want the fruit of the spirit first you need

How Can God Be Three Persons And One

Person At The Same Time?

We don't know how God can be three persons at the same time, but we know he
is because the Bible tells us so. The idea of three in one (the Trinity) is very hard
to understand. Some people use the example of water. Water can be a liquid, a
gas, or a solid. We usually see water in liquid form, as when we use it for drinking
or for taking a bath. But water can also be a gas, as when it turns to steam. And
it can be a solid, in the form of ice. But whether liquid, gas, or solid, it's still
water. In some ways God is like a family with father, mother, and child - three
persons and one family. Just remember that the Trinity does not mean that we
have three gods. There is one God with three persons. The Trinity also does not
mean that God wears three hats, or takes on three roles, at different times. All
three persons - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit - have always existed.

Key Verse
[Jesus is speaking] "So now go and make disciples in all the nations. Baptize
them into the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit." (Matthew 28:19)
