This document will cover the settings for establishing a 793 Controller Network on the
Windows 7 operating system. The Firewall for this network will not be enabled or
handled as an Exception to the enabled Firewall. This document will cover settings for a
single PC to controller. This document assumes the additional network card and
appropriate drivers have been installed.

Single PC to Controller
1. Turn on IIS Services

• From the Control Panel select Programs > Programs and Features.
• Under Programs and Features in the left-hand pane, click on Turn Windows
features on or off.
• Find the IIS (Internet Information Services) section.
• Expand this section by clicking on the + sign.
• Expand the FTP Server and Web Management Tools sections.
A. Enable FTP Service in the FTP Server section.
B. Enable IIs Management Console in the Web Management Tools
section.
• Find and enable the Telnet Client (found further down in its own section).
• Click OK to install the new features.

2. Energize and Rename the Network.

• The NIC or Network Adapter (here to referred as the Adapter) to be used in


the Controller Network will need to be connected to the controller and the
controller turned on. The energized connection between PC and controller
allows the OS to see the Adapter in the Network Sharing Center.
• From the Control Panel select Network and Internet > Network and Sharing
Center.
A. In the left pane click on Change Adapter Settings.
B. Right-click on the Adapter designated for the Controller.
C. Rename the Adapter (i.e. CtrlrNet).
D. Ensure the Adapter is enabled.
E. Click on Close to exit the window.

3. Configure the Adapter IP Address and define its Profile.

• Return to the Network Sharing Center


• In the right pane you will see the Active Networks. Only active networks are
displayed. You will need to connect the controller and power it on for the
controller network connection to be displayed. It may come and go as the
controller reboots itself.
• This area will be divided into left and right sections.
• The right side tells us the name of the Adapter (i.e. CtrlrNet) and provides
access to its Status, Configuration and Properties.
A. Click on the Adapter name and go to its Status window.
B. Click on Properties.
C. Check Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and uncheck every
other option in the list.
D. Highlight Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click on
Properties.
E. Select Use the following IP address.
F. Enter 148.150.203.190.
G. Set the Subnet Mask to 255.255.255.0.
H. Exit all windows with OK or Close. If you are asked to validate
TCP/IP settings select Cancel; your settings will be saved.

• The left side tells us from what location the network is defined for (i.e. Home,
Work or Public) and provides access to define the location of the Network.
Defining the location of the Network is critical. If the location is not set to
Public, do the following:
A. Click on the current Location name.
B. Set the location to Public.
C. Click on Close to exit the window.

• Corporate Networks should have their location set to Work.

4. Disable the Firewall for Public Networks.

• From the Control Panel select System & Security > Windows Firewall.
• In the left pane click on Advanced Settings.
• In the center pane of this window, find the Overview section which lists the
Firewall Profiles.
A. Click on Windows Firewall Properties at the bottom of this section.
B. Go to the Public Profile tab.
C. Turn off the Firewall for the Public Profile.
D. Close this window by clicking OK.

5. Add FTP Publishing.

• From the Control Panel select System & Security.


• Click on Administrative Tools.
• Double click on Internet Information Services Manager (IIS Manager)
A. In the left side expand the computer node by clicking on the arrow.
B. Expand Sites.
C. Right click on the Default Web Site.
D. Select Add FTP Publishing…
E. On the Popup screen, in the binding section select the IP address of
148.150.203.190. Leave the port 21 (the default).
F. Verify Start FTP site is checked.
G. Select Allow SSL.
H. Press the Next button.
I. Check Anonymous and Basic Authentication.
J. From the Authorization drop-down select Allow access to All users.
K. Allow Read permission (optionally you can also select Write
permission).
L. Select Finish.

6. Configure the Default FTP settings (to be done after the 793 installation).

• The 793 Installation program normally configures these settings.


• These settings can also be configured by using the Test PC application.
• To verify these settings or to configure them, select Control Panel > System
and Security > Administrative Tools > Internet Information Services Manager
(IIS Manager).
A. Select Default Web Site on the left side (Expand Computer Name and
Sites).
B. Under Actions on the right side, select Basic Settings.
C. Verify the Physical Path is the MTS ntbin directory (example below):

C:\Program Files\MTS 793\ntbin
