Calculator modes
The calculator modes in Windows 10 are:
● Standard - to perform basic calculations
● Scientific - to perform advanced calculations
● Programmer - for binary code
● Date calculation - for working with dates
● Converter - options under this mode can help you convert units of measurement
Switch between calculator modes

Tip: You can simultaneously open multiple calculators, in resizable windows, and switch
between modes.
Use the Standard calculator
The Standard calculator helps you perform basic mathematical calculations such as adding,
subtracting, multiplying, and dividing numbers. You can also find square roots, calculate
percentages, and work with fractions.
The following Memory functions help you:
● MS: save a new number to the memory
● MR: recall the saved number from memory
● M+: add the number in the input to the most recently stored number
● M-: subtract the number in the input from the most recently stored number
● MC: clear all stored numbers from memory
● M: display all current stored numbers in the memory stored numbers

Use the Scientific calculator
In addition to basic mathematical functions in the Standard mode, the Scientific mode includes
more complex functions such as trigonometry, exponents, logarithms, modulo, and so on.

Use the Programmer calculator
The Programmer calculator helps you switch between the binary, decimal, hexadecimal, and
octal number systems. It also adds new operations for working with logic gates—Or, And, Xor,
and Not—and bit shifting—Lsh, Rsh, RoR, and RoL.
Also, Programmer mode lets you switch between Byte (8 bits), Word (16 bits), DWord (32 bits),
and QWord (64 bits) and has an option for binary bit toggling.
Use the Date calculation mode
The Date calculation mode helps you calculate the difference between two specific dates. For
example, you can calculate how many days to complete your project or how many days it is until
your next customer visit.
To calculate the difference between two dates:
1. In the Calculator application, select the Date calculation mode.
By default, the Difference between dates option is selected.
2. Select a date under From.
3. Select a date under To.
The number of days between the selected days displays under Difference.
Use the Converter
The Converter mode helps you convert currencies and units of measurement. Options in the
Converter mode are:
Convert currency
The currency converter helps you convert currencies from around the world. You can use the
currency converter offline too, if you are roaming internationally and not connected to the
internet.
To convert currency using the currency converter:
1. Select a starting currency. For example, United States - Dollar.
2. Enter the amount.
3. Select the currency you want to convert to. For example, Europe - Euro.
The converted amount displays.
