SETTING UP BBMB EMAIL SERVICE ON SMART MOBILE DEVICES.

A. Steps for Android Devices

1. Open “Settings” of smart mobile device and select “Add Account” under “Accounts”
option. Then tap on “Email” option as detailed hereunder.

2. Type your full email address, for example [email protected], and your password,
and then select ‘Manual Setup’. Select ‘IMAP’ under type of account as detailed below.

3. Then, fill the Incoming settings i.e. mail.gov.in for ‘IMAP Server’, 993 for ‘Port’ and
SSL/TSL (Accept all certificates) for ‘Security Type’ and select ‘NEXT’. Also fill the
outgoing settings i.e. mail.gov.in for ‘SMTP Server’, 465 for ‘Port’ and SSL/TSL (Accept
all certificates) for ‘Security Type’. Ensure that the ‘Require sign-in’ is selected and
enter your ‘Username’ and ‘Password’ and select ‘NEXT’ as detailed below.
Remember the username for email id [email protected] will be user.bbmb.
4. As soon as your phone verifies the server settings, the Account Options/Settings are
displayed on the screen.

The options available depend on the version of Android on your device. The options
may include the following:

Email checking frequency: The default value is Automatic (‘Push’). When you select
this option, email messages will be sent to your phone as it hit on server. You can select
it to ‘Manual’ or automate to sync on available intervals.

Number of Days to sync: This is for how many days back the device will show email
on your device from server. The default option is 30 days which can be altered.

Notify me when email arrives: If you select this option, your mobile phone will notify
you when you receive a new email message.
Select the relevant options and press ‘NEXT’.
5. Then type a name for this account and the name you want displayed when you send e-
mail to others. Select ‘Finish’ and it may take some time to sync emails from server
depending on the type of connectivity being used Mobile device i.e. 2G/3G/Wi-Fi etc.
B. Steps for iOS Devices

1. Select ‘Settings’ and then ‘Mail, Contacts, Calendars’ or ‘Mail’ (depending on the iOS
version). Then go to ‘Accounts’ select ‘Add Account’, ‘Other’ as detailed below.

2. Select ‘Add Mail Account’. Enter your name/designation in ‘Name’, email id for example
[email protected] in ‘Email’, password in ‘Password’ and official/BBMB etc. in
‘Description’.

3. Ensure that ‘IMAP’ is highlighted in the next screen. This screen will display Name, Email
& Description entered by you in the previous screen. Enter Host Name, Username &
Password for Incoming Mail Server & Outgoing Mail Server settings. Remember for
both settings the host name is mail.gov.in and the username for email id
[email protected] will be user.bbmb. Then press ‘Next’, it will take some time to verify the
account on Server. Press ‘Save’ on the next screen as detailed below.
4. Verify account settings as detailed below. Select ‘Settings’ and then ‘Mail, Contacts,
Calendars’ or ‘Mail’ and go to ‘Accounts’. Select your email account (i.e.
[email protected] email account has been selected in this case) under ‘Accounts’. Refer
the following snapshots and ensure that for ‘Outgoing Mail Server’ the ‘Use SSL’ option
is selected and the ‘Server Port’ is ‘465’. Similarly ensure that for ‘Incoming Mail Server’
the ‘Use SSL’ option is selected and the ‘Server Port’ is ‘993’
