OUR FINAL YEAR PROJECT:

Introduction:
Our Final Year Project is about the 4E (Energy, Exergy, Economic, Environmental) Analysis of coal power
plants which plays a vital role in improving their efficiency, reducing emissions, and ensuring sustainable
energy generation. In this project, we are focusing on a 660MW coal power plant and proposing the
integration of solar energy through parabolic trough collectors. By preheating the water before it enters
the boiler, we aim to increase the overall efficiency of the plant while simultaneously decreasing CO2
emissions and reducing the cost of coal consumption. This project represents a significant step towards
a more sustainable and environmentally friendly approach to power generation.

Advantages:
The integration of solar energy through parabolic trough collectors offers numerous advantages for the
660MW coal power plant.

1) Firstly, by preheating the water using solar energy, the overall efficiency of the boiler can be
significantly increased. This enhancement results in improved power generation without the need for
additional coal consumption.

2) The higher efficiency also translates into cost savings by reducing the plant's reliance on coal, which is
subject to price volatility.

3) Moreover, the integration of solar energy helps in reducing CO2 emissions, mitigating the
environmental impact of the power plant. By utilizing renewable energy sources, we can contribute to
the global efforts to combat climate change and promote sustainable development.

Scope:
The scope of this project extends beyond the specific coal power plant under analysis. The findings and
recommendations can be applied to similar power plants around the world, enhancing their operational
efficiency and environmental performance. The integration of solar energy can be adapted to various
plant sizes and configurations, making it a versatile solution for power generation.

By conducting a comprehensive 4E Analysis and implementing the integration of solar energy, we can
pave the way for a more sustainable and economically viable approach to power generation. The
combined benefits of increased efficiency, reduced emissions, and cost savings make this project a
promising endeavor in the transition towards cleaner energy sources.
