THE COMMUNITY
A community is a group of people who share certain elements in common, such as
language and customs in a specific place and time; socializing and forming a group
of values and rules, in order to achieve the same purpose; now you know what a
community is, but do you really know what happens in communities other than
yours? It is important to study the things that happen daily in other neighborhoods,
which are not always positive; such as robberies, murders, car accidents, etc. For
this reason, in this report the Trigal del Norte neighborhood will be highlighted,
which like many places, has beautiful things, but has also been going through
different problems that have not reached a solution.
In the first instance, many sports academies have been created in this
neighborhood; such as basketball, skating, soccer, etc. Demonstrating that the
talent of children, teenagers and even adults is supported. Also, there is a
foundation, made up of the church and some businessmen; that helps young
people living in invasion zones. They are given a market every month and
assigned a businessman known as a “godfather,” who is in charge of sending them
gifts, such as clothes or money; on every special date. These are positive things,
speaking of sport; since most of the academies have a low cost and are located in
the same sector, they support people who do not have enough money to pay for an
expensive academy or transportation to another place; every time they have to go
to training. Speaking of the foundation, it is a very good project, since it provides
food to children and young people who frequently go days without eating, due to
lack of money.
Secondly, there are many beautiful parks in the Trigal del Norte, but many parents
are afraid to take their children to these spaces, due to the presence of drug
addicts. This is a problem that occurs very often, since children are practically not
allowed to enjoy these areas. Because, from 5 or 6 in the afternoon, the parks are
under the control of drug users, who can become violent or disrespectful of people.
On the other hand, the poor state of the children's games in the parks can be
highlighted; many are completely rusted, causing them to deteriorate little by little
and then open holes; This can cause children to fall or be injured by rubbing their
bodies against these openings. Also, the bio-healthy games are not even
maintained and even on the El Pilon court, many people claim to have seen some
street residents unscrew one of these machines, leaving only the hole in which it
should be positioned; demonstrating the lack of security that exists in this
community.
On the other hand, the neighbors try to ensure that the sport is not lost. For this
reason, they have promoted soccer tournaments on the El Pilon field, but the
conditions of that sporting scenario are not the most suitable for the players. The
field has no grass or tablet, it is a dirt pit with stones; where a player could fall and
be injured. Also, a councilor from Commune 6, indicated that the Mayor's Office of
Cúcuta promised to repair the El Pilon field, but nothing has happened; showing
the abandonment that these places have.
In addition, private security has to be paid for in this neighborhood. Many
neighbors provide money to informal security guards to patrol the streets at night;
this is a desperate measure they had to resort to in order to reduce the number of
robberies. These watchmen ride around the streets on bicycles, on the lookout for
any suspect who might break into the houses at any time. But, some neighbors
affirm that this is not an efficient security measure, if it is taken into account that
these ''guards'' only have a tonfa and a whistle, while the delinquents could have a
firearm or a knife.
In addition, it can be noted that several roads in the Trigal del Norte are in poor
condition, showing the abandonment that this area has had for decades. Drivers
have to manage to move over the holes and craters.
In the third instance, the problem of drug addicts in the parks could be improved if
there are police officers who make sure that people do not consume in front of
children and much less do these people attack the inhabitants. Also, with the
control of the police, the theft of bio-healthy games could end. On the other hand,
the mayors should order the fields to be fixed, to further encourage sports.
Likewise, they would have to fix the streets that are in poor condition and that can
even be harmful to drivers.
Finally, it can be said that the community of Barrio Trigal del Norte has things, both
positive and negative; that can be solved only with the help of the government, but
it has completely ignored the requests of individuals.
