3. Using identities, evaluate the following: [3+3+4]

(i) (81)2 (ii) 20.5 X 19.5

(iii) (14.3)2 - (5.7)2

(i) The total surface area of a cube is 150 cm2. Find:

a) The length of the side of a cube

b) The lateral surface area of the cube


(ii) A rectangular block of metal measures 8 cm by 7 cm by 5 cm. Find

(a) The lateral surface area of the block.

(b) The total surface area of the block.

(iii) Find the area of the four walls of a room whose length is 7 m, breadth is 5 m and height is 3 m.

Also find the cost of whitewashing the walls at rate of Rs 8 per sq m (Ignore the doors and windows)

5. Mr X’s monthly income is Rs 16,200. The monthly expense of his family on various items are given
