Introduction
This guide aims to determine the requirements of the GPON technology (Fiber Optics) and the
mobile Service (IBS) for multiple types of Buildings (mainly multi dwelling units And single dwelling
unit) in KSA.
These requirements are the minimum ones to be fulfilled in order to ease the construction of
systems at site by service providers.

Mobile Service Requirements (IBS)
❖ No requirements are needed for :
• SDU.
• MDU <= 5 floors
❖ For MDU > 5 and <= 10 floors , Mobile services is incorporated with the wired
system in RTTR (Roof top Telecom Room).
❖ For MDU > 10 floors , an MSTR (Mobile Service Telecom Room) is required.
❖ For high-rise buildings , an MSTR must be provided every 10 floors.

Summary
• The document provides guidelines for the construction of ICT
(Information and Communications Technology) infrastructure in different
types of buildings in Saudi Arabia.
• Mobile Service Requirements (In-Building Solutions or IBS) not required
in SDU, it is mandatory for Buildings more than 10 Floors.
• Fiber System Requirements determine Spaces needed for Equipment ,
Shafts needed between floors and horizontal Trunking between Floor
Distributer and Unit distributers.
• Each of these spaces requires a specific Power Source and a specific air
quality (electro-Mechanical Requirements).
