Heylo Clubmates!

Our team at Phodu Club has made this document specially for the students who are having
syllabus backlogs in their JEE prep.

We have split the process in steps to make it easier for you to follow.

Step 1: Self-acceptance
We think it’s important to accept that having syllabus backlogs is not ideal. It eventually piles
up and leads to anxiety. But IT'S OKAY to have backlogs , as long as you follow one key
principle: your backlog should NEVER increase.

If you already have 5 chapters pending, the 6th one is NOT allowed. From today onwards,
complete your daily work to prevent further stacking of backlog.

Whatever has happened, now it's your duty to put in the extra hours to clear it. Be patient,
set mini goals, and take it one step at a time instead of worrying.

Don't worry, this doc will assist you with the same :)

Step 2: Resources

These are the resources you will require.

1. One shot videos (recommendations below)

2. NCERT
3. Coaching Module OR Reference Book
4. JEE PYQs

YouTube one-shot recommendations:

Disclaimer: One shot videos are only to be used when you want a quick recap of a
chapter. They are not full length videos. Focus more on practice if you are short on
time.

We recommend you to go search for the topic on youtube and skim through some videos to
find out which teacher suits you the best. The content is pretty much the same in all of them.

Coaching Modules are a great combination of all the reference books. If you do your’s once
(or even twice), you are already solving a bunch of questions from other books, sources and
PYQs.

Books

Some relevant reference book recommendations (any famous book works)

Physics:
HC Verma, DC Pandey, Cengage, PYQs Book

Chemistry:
PYQs Book
MS Chouhan AND/OR Himanshu Pandey for OC
Narendra Awasthi for PC
NCERT for IOC

Maths
PYQ Book, Cengage, Black Book (for advanced)

Step 3: Execution

Now that you have geared up and know all the resources, it's time to execute. One crucial
rule: your backlog should decrease daily. Even if it’s just by 4-5%, make sure you are
progressing. This way, you'll finish within a particular time and prevent further backlog.
Here's how to go about it:

1️⃣ Select a chapter – Watch a one-shot video for a quick overview and problem-solving
insight. Make short notes.
2️⃣ If time permits, start with the coaching module/reference book. Otherwise…
3️⃣ Do JEE PYQs (from 2019 onwards) until you gain confidence.
4️⃣ Create a formula sheet & short notes and revise regularly.

Pro tip: If you have a lot of backlog, start with the easy and medium scoring chapters +
topics

List of important chapters based on PYQ trends

Physics: Current Electricity, Electrostatics, Magnetic effects of electric current, Ray optics,
Modern Physics.

Math: Conic Section, Vector Algebra, 3D Geometry, Sequence and Series, Permutation and
Combination, Binomial Theorem, Matrices and Determinants

Chemistry: Atomic Structure, Coordination Compounds, Chemical Bonding, General

Organic Chemistry, Isomerism, Solutions, S-block, Thermodynamics, Periodic Table, P-Block

Name reactions for organic chemistry!

These sections are generally 40%+ of the paper!

Step 4: Revision

Revision is sometimes considered more important than syllabus completion. If you don’t
keep a hold of the parts you have studied, there’s no point in moving forward.

Short notes are the key to revise any chapter easily and quickly. Make short notes of theory
as well as of questions. Add the questions in a very short form which you were not able to
solve. Further making audio notes of these short notes is something game changing.

Have a proper schedule on how and when you are going to revise a chapter and make sure
to keep everything intact in your mind.

We are proud that you have decided to clear your backlogs. Take this decision seriously and
you will definitely get benefitted.
