Official Announcement: PAUSTI Student Election Results

Dear Fellow Students,

The PAUSTI Student Election Committee (SEC) extends its sincere gratitude to the student
community for turning out in large numbers to participate in the student elections. We also
appreciate the security personnel and the PAUSTI administration for their unwavering
support in ensuring a smooth and transparent electoral process.

MSc Representative Election Results:

We are pleased to announce that Mr. Lewis Salipako has been elected as the Overall MSc
Representative with a total of 24 votes. The final vote standings are as follows:

• Mr. Lewis Salipako: 24 votes (Elected Overall MSc Representative)

• Mr. Lual Abraham Deng Luala: 18 votes

• Ms. Liku Kimola Chenge: 13 votes

The candidates and/or their observers were present during the counting process, and all
parties accepted the results without objection.

PhD Representative Election Results:

For the PhD representative election, there was a tie between the following candidates, each
securing 18 votes:

• Mr. Vourbobe Mathieu: 18 votes

• Mr. Otieno Okumu Kevin: 18 votes

In response to this tie, the SEC convened a brief meeting to determine the way forward.
While the first condition for resolving a tie was met, the second condition posed a challenge.
After thorough deliberation, it was agreed that only those who did not vote today will be
allowed to cast their votes on Monday, 17 March 2025 from 2pm, same Venue, to break the
tie.
This decision was presented to the affected candidates and their observers, who agreed to
the proposed solution.

Congratulations:

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Mr. Lewis Salipako, the newly elected Overall
MSc Representative, and commend all candidates for their dedication and participation in
this democratic process.

The SEC remains committed to ensuring a transparent and fair electoral process and will
continue to uphold the voices of the student community.
