Thank you for downloading this resource.

I created these slides as an easy, fun way for you to practice mapping words in your class. Using
phonemic awareness and letter-sound skills to spell words promotes a mental process called
orthographic mapping. This is how our brain stores words! Since this is so important, I want to
make it easy for you to practice this in your classroom.

How to use this resource:


Show the first slide and have the students say the word. Then have them segment and count the
sounds.* Next, they should spell each sound. I added a step for students to check their work as
students work at various paces. On the next slide, they will have a chance to check their answer.
Once they have double checked their answer, they can complete the movement!

What’s included?
This resource includes 19 Short I CVC words, 40 slides, and recording sheets for students to map
their words.

Each skill has a different theme to keep it fun and engaging for students. The theme for Short I is
the BIRTHDAY PARTY. All movements will be things you can do at a birthday party.
