Analysis and Interpretation of Data

Figure 1 shows the gender distribution of respondents, with 62% female and 38%
male. This indicates a higher proportion of female participants, suggesting a gender
imbalance in the data.

Figure 2 shows that single-parent families are the most common among the
respondents at 40%. Blended families account for 25%, nuclear families for 18%, and
extended families for 17%. This data suggests a significant presence of single-parent
households, with a balanced distribution among the other family types.

Figure 3 shows the largest group among the respondents is of mixed descent, making
up about 38%, followed by Indians at 30%. Africans represent around 20%, while no
respondents identified as Chinese. This indicates a diverse population, with mixed
descent and Indian ethnicities being the most prominent.

Figure 4 shows that close contact (36%) and lack of public health infrastructure (30%)
are the main causes of COVID-19 spread. Poor ventilation (23%) and low vaccination
rates (11%) also contribute but to a lesser extent. Close contact is the leading cause,
emphasizing the need for social distancing and protective measures. Lack of
infrastructure and poor ventilation also significantly contribute, indicating the need
for improved healthcare systems and better airflow in public spaces. While low
vaccination rates are the smallest factor, increasing vaccination coverage remains
important.

Figure 5 shows that residents were most affected by health impacts and financial
impacts (both 31%), followed by educational disruption (26%) and environmental
impacts (12%). The main challenges are maintaining well-being and economic
stability, with education and environmental effects being less prominent.

Figure 6 shows that respondents perceive limiting large gatherings (39%) and
enhancing health protocols (31%) as the most effective measures to curb COVID-19
spread. Public awareness campaigns (16%) and improving access to testing and
vaccination (14%) are viewed as less impactful. Vaccination (14%) may be viewed as

17
having less impactful because they might fear side effects, believe false information,
or don’t trust the healthcare system.

18

, to gain support.

3. Host workshops in schools, churches, and community centers to educate residents

on COVID-19 prevention practices, including mask-wearing, social distancing,
and proper ventilation.

4. Use culturally relevant methods such as skits, music, and storytelling to ensure
the message resonates with community members.

5. Partner with local businesses to distribute flyers, posters, and sanitization kits in
high-traffic areas like markets and bus stops.

6. Conduct surveys or community meetings to gather feedback on the campaign’s

effectiveness. Use this information to refine future efforts and ensure sustained
