DATA ANALYSIS
Definition
The next topic we are presenting on data analysis.like we said data is simply raw facts so
the need to be collected together for reference and analysis.so data analysis is
Data analysis refers to the process of cleaning, sorting, inspecting and processing raw data to
extract relevant or useful information or basic conclusions. Data analysis uses both analytic and
logical reasoning to determine patterns, relationships or trends. Where you tend to question
what could be or must be true.
Steps of Data analysis.
1. Define the question
The first steps is to understand what you need to do with the specific data or situation at
hand. You need to set clear objectives by recognizing the problem that you want to solve and
setting defined goals. For example, let's take a situation of a sales lady who is selling pure coffee
and has decided to add some flavour on her product, may ask if the customers are likely to
purchase her coffee after having a long term experience and use of her original product.problem
research is trying to address.
2. Data collection
After having a solid idea of what you are tackling,it's now time to define the type or method of
data you need to find your answers with. It entails coming up with actual facts and figures that
are to be used .It can either be in primary method (1st hand information)which can be done
through: Filling in questionnaires, observations, measurements and interviews or secondary
method which can be found in hospitals, libraries, archives or even social media.
3. Data cleaning
Cleaning of data means to scrub off errors, duplicates and outliners and filling in major gaps
making sure that you are working with high quality data.
Once you’ve collected your data, the next step is to get it ready for analysis.
4. Analyzing
Here, there might be a need to sort and format the data to make it easier to process, through
analytic and logical reasoning to determine patterns, trends or relationships. The analyzed data
can be recorded in statistical tables, charts or tally.
5. Sharing results
After figuring out the errors and analyzing the data, the final step of the data analytics process is
to share these insights with the wider world or at least with your organization’s stakeholders.
This is more complex than simply sharing the raw results of your work; it involves interpreting
the outcomes, and presenting them in a manner that’s digestible for all types of audiences.
