Past Continuous

What were you doing yesterday at 6pm?

What was your mother doing last summer?

Write the responses on your notebook,


emphasizing the action in progress at the specific
time.
PAST CONTINUOUS STRUCTURE

Affirmative, Negative, Question
Affirmative: Subject + was/were + verb-ing

Negative: Subject + was/were + not + verb-ing

Interrogative: Was/Were + subject + verb-ing? Remeber that QUW can be used too.

Use:

Actions happening at a specific moment in the past.

Interrupted actions: I was working when my phone rang.

Parallel actions: While I was cooking, my partner was cleaning.

Short Examples:

I was reading emails at 9am yesterday.

My partner was cooking dinner when I came home from work

While I was studying English my partner was palying videogames.
