Narrative Report on Assessment Process

Pre-Assessment Preparations

Before the assessment begins, my role as an assessor is to ensure that all necessary
preparations are completed. This includes reviewing the assessment guidelines, verifying the
list of candidates, and preparing the required assessment tools and documents such as the
competency checklist and rating sheets. Additionally, I ensure that the assessment
environment is conducive to testing, with proper safety measures in place and all necessary
materials and equipment available.

Orientation and Its Importance

During the orientation, I provide the candidates with a clear overview of the assessment
process, including the objectives, procedures, and expected outcomes. I also discuss the
assessment criteria, rules, and regulations, as well as the rights and responsibilities of the
candidates. Orientation is conducted to ensure that candidates understand the assessment
process, reducing anxiety and setting clear expectations. This also allows candidates to ask
questions and clarify any concerns they may have.

Role During the Candidates’ Performance

While the candidates are performing their tasks, I observe and evaluate their performance
based on the prescribed competency standards. I document their progress using the
assessment tools, ensuring that my observations are objective and based on established
criteria. As an assessor, I maintain professionalism by being impartial and avoiding any
actions that may influence the candidates' performance. I refrain from giving hints or
unnecessary assistance, as this could compromise the fairness of the assessment. However, I
ensure that I intervene if there is a safety concern or a breach of protocol.

Basis of Assessment Decision

The assessment decision is based on the competency standards outlined in the assessment
plan. I evaluate the candidates based on their demonstration of required skills, knowledge,
and attitude. The decision is guided by documented evidence such as observation checklists,
practical task results, and any supporting written assessments. I ensure that my judgment is
fair, consistent, and based solely on the criteria set for the competency being assessed.

Providing Feedback to Candidates

After the assessment, I conduct a feedback session to discuss the results with the candidates.
During this session, I provide constructive feedback by highlighting their strengths and areas
for improvement. I explain the basis of my assessment decision and address any concerns
they may have. If a candidate is deemed competent, I commend them on their performance
and encourage continuous learning. If a candidate is not yet competent, I guide them on
areas they need to improve and suggest ways to enhance their skills for future assessment.
This feedback session is crucial as it helps candidates understand their progress and prepares
them for further skill development.

Conclusion

As an assessor, it is my responsibility to ensure that the assessment process is conducted

with integrity, fairness, and transparency. By following the proper procedures, maintaining
objectivity, and providing meaningful feedback, I contribute to the professional growth and
competency development of the candidates.
