WATERMELON

CROCHET PATTERN

Skill level: Advanced Begginer Weekend Project


Materials and Tools:
Yarn for the base: 120 meters/100 grams red, white, green
Yarn for blush and smile: 165 meters/50 grams Colors: pink, black
Crochet hook 5 mm
Sewing pins
Needle with a wide eye
Safety eyes 2 pieces - 16 mm
Liquid glue
Polyester fiberfill
Scissors

Abbreviations:

MR – magic ring
Sc – single crochet
Inc – increase
Dec – decrease
Ch – chain stitch
Hdc - Half double crochet
Dc - Double crochet
Tc - Treble crochet
X – denotes how many times to repeat the action in parentheses – ()

Notes:
This pattern uses US crochet terminology.
Every round should be continuous (NO Slip Stitch).
You can place safety eyes or embroider them with black yarn.
The circles next to the instructions are a checklist that will make it
easier to follow the pattern
Watermelon (Green, white and red colors)
Start with the green color. We will start with turning rows, and
continue from rnd 4 with rounds. Make 1 chain at the end of each
row and turn the Watermelon to crochet the other way.
Row 1: 15 Ch, from the 2nd chain from the hook: 14 Sc (14)
Row 2-3: 14 sc (14)
Rnd 4: Now, we'll crochet using rounds. Crochet around the
entire piece 32 Sc (32)
White color, no more need for green.
Rnd 5: (2 Sc, 1 Dec) x 8 (24) BLO
Change to red color, no more need for white.
Rnd 6: 24 Sc (24) BLO
Rnd 7-8: 24 Sc (24)
Rnd 9: (2 Sc, 1 Dec) x 6 (18) Start filling
Rnd 10-11: 18 Sc (18) - Place safety eyes between Rnds 10-11. 4 Sc
apart.
Rnd 12: (1 Sc, 1 Dec) x 6 (12) Fill completely
Rnd 13: 6 Dec (6) Close with a tapestry needle
Blush - Pink Color

6 Sc in a MR, close with 1 Sl st. Leave a tail for sewing.

Sew on the blush below the eyes - for a no-sew version, you can use a
pink blush instead.

For the smile, take a piece of black yarn approximately 1.5 cm long.
Apply glue to the strip, fold it into a C shape, and attach it between
the lower part of the eyes.
Your Watermelon is Ready!
