Evaporation Technology
RAYGM offers evaporation systems for your product evaporation,
concentration or solvent recovery to treat your heat-sensitive,
viscous and complex products.
RAYGM has expertise in design of Evaporation System that
guarantees resource optimization, continuous process
functioning and the lowest possible operating costs based
on per kg of water evaporated. Our activities focus on the
construction of new plants and the optimization of existing
plants and processes through retrofitting and upgradation
to the newest technologies.
Evaporation technology is used in any process that requires concentration of a stream by
removal of water or other solvent. It is used extensively in processing foods, chemicals,
pharmaceuticals, fruit juices, dairy products, paper and pulp, and both malt and grain beverages.
Falling Film Evaporator (FFE)
The falling film evaporator is a type of film evaporator which is used most
commonly because of its wide operating range.
A Falling Film Evaporator (FFE ) is a vertical shell & tube type of
heat exchanger with vapor- liquid separator (VS) mounted at the
bottom.
The liquid to be concentrated is fed at the top of heated tubes and
distributed in a way that it flows down on the inside surface of
the tubes as at thin film. The liquid distributor at the top assures
uniform liquid loading of all tubes. As the film gets heated, the
vapors generated flow
downwards through the tube bundle in co- current with the
concentrate. The drag of the vapors increases the turbulence &
improves heat transfer performance. Subsequently, the vapor
phase is separated from the liquid phase in vapor liquid separate Falling Film Evaporator
or (VS).

Rising Film Evaporator (RFE)
The rising/climbing film evaporator is a type of film evaporator which can
achieve moderate evaporation, suitable for high viscosity and heat sensitive
materials
A Rising Film Evaporator is a vertical shell & tube type of heat
exchanger with vapor-liquid separator (VS) mounted at the top.
The rising film evaporator operates with the density difference of
liquid / liquid-vapor mixture inside the tubes. The liquid to be
concentrated is fed at the bottom of heated tube bundle. As the
liquid feed receives the heat, the vapors generated lift the liquid
upwards. The vapor and balance liquid are separated in vapor-
liquid separator (VS)

Forced Circulation Evaporator (FCE)
The forced circulation evaporator is designed for liquids with a high solids
content, high viscosity & tendency to foul.
A Forced Circulation Evaporator (FCE) has Horizontal or vertical
shell-and-tube heat exchanger as the calandria, with flash
vessel/separator & a circulation pump for circulation of slurry
through the tubes. Use of a rightly sized pump ensures good velocity
in the tubes with minimum power requirement. Forced circulation
leads to high tube side velocities (6-18 ft/s), and hence higher heat-
transfer coefficients and smaller heating surfaces. Boiling in the
forced circulation evaporator is suppressed in the heat exchanger by
back pressure and takes place when the liquid enters the flash
vessel/separator. Forced Circulation Evaporator

Multiple Effect Evaporator (MEE)
In large-scale industrial production, it is often necessary to evaporate a large
amount of water, reduce the consumption of heating steam, multi effect
evaporator can be used.
The multiple-effect configuration combines two or more evaporator bodies to conserve steam.
Water evaporated in the first-effect vapor body is condensed in the second-effect heat exchanger,
which provides energy for evaporation in the second-effect vapor body (and so on for additional
effects).
MEE system is perfect for continuous feed applications, as fluids are progressively reduced in each
effect to final concentration discharge. Comparison of evaporator steam economies

Thermal Vapor Recompression (TVR)
Thermal vapor recompression (TVR) gives the same
steam/energy saving as an additional evaporation effect.
TVR uses ejector to recover the secondary steam, reduces the system
requirement for fresh steam and achieve energy saving performance.

steam plus vapors from the first effect) is used
to heat the first evaporation stage thus
reducing the system requirement for fresh
steam and achieving energy saving
performance. This motive steam portion is
transferred as excess vapor to the next effect or
to the condenser. The energy of the excess
vapors approximates the energy of the motive
steam quantity used.

Agitated thin Film Dryer / Evaporator
(ATFD / ATFE)
Due to its inherent design features, ATFD/ATFE is ideal for thermal treatment
of solutions that are highly viscous (viscosities of several million centipoise),
heat sensitive, fouling & high Boiling products, where reduced operating
temperatures and vacuum operating pressures are desirable.
An Agitated Thin Film Dryer / Evaporator (ATFD/ATFE), also known as
Thin Film Evaporator (TFE) or Wiped Film Evaporator (WFE). They are
mainly used for difficult vaporization and heat exchange processes,
especially where products to be handled are highly viscous and
conventional plants can no longer meet user demands because heat
transfer is insufficient. Due to the liquid film, mechanically generated
on the heating surfaces, thin film equipment achieves much better
heat transfer rates, even with highly viscous products containing
solids.

Cyclo-vane Spray Scrubber
Scrubbing liquid is introduced into the scrubber as a spray
directed down over a circular “SwirlScrub Section”
arrangement. As the liquid drains through the vanes, it
creates curtains of scrubbing liquid. Dust laden gas enters
the scrubber tangentially and collides with the curtains
initiating particle agglomeration. The coarser particles
produced are washed down to the slurry outlet.
Due to cyclonic action of the saturated gas stream as it
spins upward forces the agglomerated particles to fall out
of suspension. The coarser droplets impinge on the mist
eliminator vanes and the finer droplets are forced to drop
out of suspension by gravitational and centrifugal forces
acting on the gas stream as it exits through the top
Dynamic Spray Scrubber
This is combination of Cyclonic
Scrubber and Centrifugal Fan. Dust
laden gas enters the lower chamber of
the Cyclonic Scrubber tangentially,
imparting a cyclonic action to the
stream. Coarse particles are removed
by a combination of centrifugal and
gravitational forces.
The gas stream containing the
remaining fine dust is drawn into an
adjacent chamber containing a wet-
ted fan. Atomized scrubbing liquid is
sprayed into the eye of the fan, further
reducing droplet size. These droplets encapsulate the fine dust particles, thus enhancing
agglomeration.
The gas stream then flows into the upper chamber tangentially at high velocity. The wet
agglomerated particles are forced by cyclonic ac- tion against the chamber walls and drain down to
the internal discharge cone. The gas stream, free of liquid droplets, spins out through an outlet atop
the scrubber.
Energy Recovery & Technological Integration
Venturi Scrubber
Another popular design from RAYGM is the Venturi
scrubber. Venturis are used to collect both particulate and
gaseous pollutants, but they are more effective in
removing particles than gaseous pollutants.
With Venturi scrubbers, the dirty gas entering a scrubber
is forced at high velocity through a Venturi where it
collides with scrubbing water. The tiny water droplets
capture particles through impaction and diffusion. The
mist eliminator for a Venturi scrubber is often a separate
device called a cyclonic separator or droplet separator.
The dirty water is then removed in the cyclonic separator
and discharged into a recycle tank. Some of the liquid is
continuously purged to limit the solids concentration and
allow recirculation back to the Venturi section.
Packed Scrubber /absorption Tower
Whether horizontal or vertical, packed-
bed wet Scrubbers provide a reliable and
practical means of removing acidic and
caustic mists and gases from corrosive
ex h a u st st rea m s, w i t h m ax i m u m
efficiency and minimum pressure loss.
Pollutant laden gases enter at the bottom
of the packed tower and rise upward,
contacting the scrubbing liquid draining
down through the packed column. Since
the pollutant concentration decreases as
the gas rises, there is constantly fresher
solvent available for contact, resulting in
an efficient removal of contaminants.
Finally, the fine moisture droplets, still
suspended in the cleaned gas stream, are removed by a mist eliminator.
Scrub liquid from the eliminator is collected in an integral reservoir and recycled to the tower.
Makeup liquid is constantly introduced, and reagent is added on demand using a dosing pump
controlled by a pH monitor
Effective Particulate Matter Control Saving Health Of Society
Two-stage Scrubbers
RAYGM has developed various 2-stage wet
scrubber designs. The most commonly used is
a Venturi Scrubber with a Packed Bed section.
It is used to remove particulate as well as
gaseous contaminants from the gas stream.
The principles of operation are as described
for the Venturi scrubber and Packed Tower
designs. The designs are optimized by using
pH control, liquid circuit separation, and mist
eliminators to enhance removal efficiencies
for specific contaminants.
Self Priming Scrubbers
Self-Priming Ventury Scrubbers are
designed to remove soluble gases and
particulate by inducing a gas flow using
high pressure liquid focused into a
Ventury throat, which eliminates the
need for a separate exhaust fan or
blower to transport the contaminated
gas stream to the Ventury scrubber.
Design incorporates a high-pressure
liquid spray for maximum entrainment
and scrubbing efficiency, and is the
optimal choice where heavy
contaminant loads, and corrosive
conditions are present with less air
present. This provides excellent removal
capacities for the reactor systems which
needs continuous venting. Like Acid
Hydrolysis etc.

Therefore, dry scrubbers do
generally not have a stack steam plume or wastewater handling/disposal requirements. Dry
scrubbing systems are used to remove acid gases (such as SO2 and HCl) primarily from combustion
sources. There are a number of dry type scrubbing system designs. However, all consist of two
main sections or devices: a device to introduce the acid gas sorbent material into the gas stream
and a particulate matter control device to remove reaction products, excess sorbent material as
well as any particulate matter already in the flue gas. Dry scrubbing systems can be categorized as
dry sorbent injectors or as spray dryer absorbers .
Why Choose a Dry Scrubber?
… Handles high temperature streams
… Versatile
… Capable of abating very acidic streams
… Spent media can be a source of revenue
… Smaller space requirements
… Can be retrofitted into current equipment (in some cases)
… Lower cost of purchase
… Able to neutralize highly corrosive gases
… Several customizable options, based on specific output and applications, often allowing for a
reduction in cost.
… Eliminates as much or more than 99% of dangerous gases, which meets local environmental
requirements
