COLLEGE OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE EDUCATION

COURSE SYLLABUS

COURSE CODE: CA-2

COURSE TITLE: Non-Institutional Correction
COURSE CREDIT: 3 units 1 hour and 30 minutes / week
PRE-REQUISITE: CA-1 Institutional Corrections

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course is all about giving people a second chance and offers a comprehensive discussion of community-based correction. Instead of just
locking someone up, the course will explore how the Philippine Probation System works to help people reform and reintegrate into society. This will look
at the Probation Law of 1976, how it started, why it was created, and how it has changed over time. It also covered the topics of Executive Clemency and
RA 4103 otherwise known as the Indeterminate Sentence Law. This course explores the transformative journey of individuals beyond the walls of
traditional correctional institutions, focusing on their rehabilitation, reformation, and return to community life. It highlights the vital role that non-
institutional correctional programs play in supporting this transition and underscores the crucial involvement of the community in ensuring successful
reintegration and reducing recidivism. Through this course, students will gain a deeper understanding of how restorative approaches and community-
based support systems contribute to a more humane and effective justice system.
