CXC Introduction New Secondly Level Programme
The Caribbean Examination Council New Secondary Level Programme in
Secondary Level Programme in September 2006 for first examination in June
2007.
A candidate will be awarded the Caribbean Certificate of Secondary Level
Competence (CCSLC) if he/she over a period. Of up to three years, successfully
completes a minimum of five subjects of which English and Mathematics are
compulsory.
The programme was conceptualized in consultation with regional policy makes
and education who identified the need for a new programme that would respond
to the changing demands of the education sector
Main Element of the Curriculum
1. It facilitates articulation within the wider at school Curriculum and
responds to a wide range of al utilities.
2. It provides the foundation for further education and training and for
entry-level employment
3. It provides articulation by catering for student’s school to take General
Proficiency examination in academic or technical and vocational or a
music of academic and technical and vocational subjects.
In developing and implementing this programme CXC working with its parties
took into consideration the cultural context and the aspiration of regional
governments for a well educated and trained labour force to meet the target set
for resources and economic development. A sound secondary education, which
this programme provides is an imperative as a lease for the development of
citizen as the most valuable resource of the region.
It provides candidates with the opportunity to gain first level entity jobs and to
continue their education and training on the job or on their own out of school.
