ATL (Atal Tinkering Lab)
To be in sync with the paradigm shift in education system and to create a culture of
scientific innovation into the young minds, Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL) is installed with the
help of Niti Aayog in Sunbeam schools. The ATL fosters curiosity, creativity, and
imagination in young minds and inculcates skills such as design mindset, computational
thinking, adaptive learning, physical computing etc. The young minds get a chance to
work with tools and equipments of ATL to understand what, how and why aspects of
STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math).
This enables tinkering among students with embedded computers – computers that are
embedded inside gadgets, everyday objects, instruments, cars, toys etc, to help make
such devices perform better. Also the Sunbeam ATL inventory includes mechanical,
electrical and electronic components and various types of sensors. Further, it includes
fabrication tools including a 3D printer to help put ideas together.
ATL helps satiate these curiosities and instincts by providing hands-on skills through the
expertise guidance of trained mentors for better understanding of the STEM concepts
leading to entrepreneurship in the long run.
• Practical File to be maintained for all the activities.
• Worksheets will be provided in classrooms and to be stuck in Practical File.
• Assessment will be done based on the activities mentioned in precept.
