This intensive foundation course is designed for high school students at a B2+ proficiency level who are preparing
for the Digital SAT. The course provides comprehensive coverage of both Math and Verbal sections, focusing on
critical skills essential for excelling in the digital format of the exam.
In the Math section, students will delve into topics such as algebra, advanced math, geometry and trigonometry,
and problem solving and data analysis.
The Verbal section will focus on both Writing and Language, and Reading. For Writing and Language, students
will work on grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, and rhetorical skills. The Reading section will develop
skills in comprehension, analysis of arguments, and interpretation of literature and informational texts.
Throughout the course, students are expected to develop critical thinking and problem-solving strategies, analytical
reading and effective comprehension techniques, and time management and test-taking strategies. This rigorous
course spans 2.5 to 3 months, providing an immersive and structured learning experience to ensure students are
thoroughly prepared for the Digital SAT.
3. COURSE OBJECTIVES
Upon completing the course, students are supposed to be able to:
3.1. WRITING AND LANGUAGE (VERBAL)
3.1.1. use editing skills and knowledge to make text conform to core conventions of Standard English
sentence structure, usage, and punctuation; and
3.1.2. use the ability to revise texts to improve the effectiveness of written expression and to meet specific
rhetorical goals.
3.2. READING (VERBAL)
3.2.1. use comprehension, vocabulary, analysis, synthesis, and reasoning skills and knowledge to understand
and use high-utility words and phrases in context, evaluate texts rhetorically, and make connections between
topically related texts; and
3.2.2. use comprehension, analysis, and reasoning skills and knowledge and the ability to locate, interpret,
evaluate, and integrate information and ideas from texts and informational graphics.
3.3. MATHS
3.3.1. analyze, fluently solve, and create linear equations and inequalities as well as analyze and fluently
solve equations and systems of equations using multiple techniques;
3.3.2. demonstrate the ability to progress to more advanced math courses, including demonstrating an
understanding of absolute value, quadratic, exponential, polynomial, rational, radical, and other nonlinear
equations;
3.3.3. apply quantitative reasoning about ratios, rates, and proportional relationships; understand and apply
unit rate; and analyze and interpret one- and two-variable data; and
3.3.4. solve problems that focus on area and volume; angles, triangles, and trigonometry; and circles.
