Script for the Inauguration of the Seminar

“Role of Chemical Engineering in Waste Management”

Introduction:
Good morning, everyone!
Chief Patron of seminar, Honourable Vice Chancellor, Prof.
Dipak Kumar Sahoo sir, esteemed Chief Guest, Vice
Chancellor, Sambalpur University, Bidhu Bhusan Mishra sir,
Registrar, Shri pradeep Dang sir, Comptroller of Finance, Sri
Tularam Kalet sir respected Co-Patron Head Of Department,
Chemical and Biosciences, Prof. Jaydev Rana sir,
distinguished Chairman of the Seminar and Head of the
Programme, Dr. Krushna Prasad Shadangi sir, respected
Organising Secretary, Mr. Veda Prakash sir, admired faculty
members, invited guests and dear students—it is with great
honour and enthusiasm on behalf of Department of Chemical
Engineering, I Shrutee Mishra, welcome you all to this
prestigious Student seminar on “Role of Chemical
Engineering in Waste Management” organized by the
Department of Chemical Engineering, Veer surendra sai
university of technology, Burla.
About the seminar:
Before we proceed, let me briefly introduce the seminar to
you.
The seminar on “Role of Chemical Engineering in Waste
Management” aims to bring forth the latest advancements
and discussions on sustainable waste management
solutions, the role of chemical processes in waste
treatment, and innovative approaches for environmental
sustainability.

Chemical engineers play a crucial role in addressing industrial


and municipal waste challenges, and this seminar will serve
as a platform for knowledge exchange, research insights, and
industry-academia collaboration.
We hope that the discussions and presentations today will
inspire new technological advancements and practical
implementations in the field of waste management and
sustainability.

1. Invitation to the Dais


To commence this seminar, I request Chief Patron of
seminar, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dipak Kumar Sahoo
sir, esteemed Chief Guest, Vice Chancellor, Sambalpur

2. Lighting of the Lamp:


To mark the beginning of this seminar, we shall now proceed
with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, a symbol of
knowledge and enlightenment. May I request our esteemed

Sahoo sir, esteemed Chief Guest, Vice Chancellor, Sambalpur

3. Presentation of Bouquets
As a token of our sincere appreciation and respect for our
esteemed dignitaries, we now proceed with the presentation
of bouquets. May I request our distinguished guests to kindly

presence and support.

We now invite our Honourable Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dipak
Kumar Sahoo Sir, Chief Patron of this seminar, to officially
declare the inauguration of this seminar with his inspiring
words.

I now request our respected Co-Patron, Prof. Jaydev Rana
Sir, Head of the Department of Chemical and Biosciences, to
introduce our esteemed Chief Guest Vice Chancellor,
Sambalpur University, Prof. Bidhu Bhusan Mishra sir .

To provide us with an overview of this prestigious seminar, I
now request our Organising Secretary, Mr. Veda Prakash Sir,
to share a brief insight into the objectives, schedule, and
speakers of this seminar.

6. Speech by Chief Guest


We are now privileged to hear from our esteemed Chief
Guest, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Bidhu Bhusan Mishra sir. Your

ANGELA KUNDOO

Thank you shrutee, Now its time to dive into the heart of the
event. I angela kundoo, and its time to elevate our discussion
with fresh insights and innovation ideas.

The stage is set to welcome Dr. Manish Kumar sir, Senior


Principal Scientist, Environment and Sustainability Department
IMMT, Bhubaneswar, Odisha MBSc. in Agriculture (2002); MSc
(2004) and PhD (2009) in Environmental Sciences from IARI,
New Delhi. He Academically gained knowledge and experience
regarding Environmental science and R & D experience in
pollution monitoring (soil and water), waste management (agro
and industrial wastes) etc. Dr. Manish sir, Worked both as
project leader and member in various government (MoEF,
MoES, DST etc.) and industrial (DPCL, POSCO-INDIA, Odisha
etc.) projects. He Also involved with various academic program
of CSIR-IMMT like PGDME, PGRPE and AcSIR PhD
(Biological Sciences). At present, his focus of research work is
to innovate waste utilisation–reduce and recycle for sustainable
environment.So lets welcome dr. Manish Kumar sir to share his
valuable insights on the topic.....

Dash sir, Chief Coal, Coke and Environment Research,
Research and Development, Tata Steel Limited, With a strong
academic background in chemical engineering, including a
Ph.D. from IIT Kharagpur, he specializes in coal and coke
technology, environmental sustainability and industrial process
optimization. His research contributions include advancements
in coal tar pitch-based carbon fiber development and chemical
leaching of high-ash Indian coals. As a leader in research and
development, He plays a crucial role in enhancing resource
efficiency, environmental management and innovation in
steelmaking processes at Tata Steel. Lets connect and hear
from him.

Mr. Amit Kumar Singh sir, Corporate Head, Vedanta Limited,


Bhubaneswar Odisha . He pursued his Bachelor of Laws
(LL.B.) from Guru Ghasidas University. He completed his
graduation from Holker College, Indore, and later obtained an
M.Tech in Applied Geology from NIT Raipur.
He is currently the Head of Corporate Affairs at Vedanta
Limited – Aluminium Business. His professional journey
includes over 14 years at Bharat Aluminium Company Limited
(BALCO), where he served as Head of Corporate Affairs from
July 2007 to August 2021.
In his current role at Vedanta, Mr. Singh focuses on corporate
communications, public relations, and stakeholder
engagement, contributing significantly to the company's growth
and its relationships with the community and government
entities. I would like to invite Mr. Amit Kumar Singh sir to
deliver their insights on the topic.............
