INTRODUCTION
The pieces of this collection are beautiful and quite difficult
classical music masterpieces that require a good mastery of
the musical instrument, a solid technique and several months
(or even years) of practice. The purpose of simplified
arrangements is to make classical music accessible to
everyone: if you are starting to play piano or if you want to
play your favorite piece in a simple or relaxing way.
Just a few words to introduce myself: I'm a graduated pianist
from an Italian Conservatory. I have had the opportunity to
teach piano in several music schools following the piano
courses. I have always tried to instill the love for music and to
communicate how it makes us brave, consistent and
determined.

PRELUDE IN C
It's a short version of the first prelude in the book "The well
tempered Clavier" by J.S. Bach, a collection of two books of
preludes and fugues in all the major and minor keys.
The piece is in C major and is characterized by the use of
broken chords.
It was chosen by Charles Gounod as a basis for his famous
Ave Maria.

LACRIMOSA
Lacrimosa is a movement from Requiem mass in D minor,
composed by W.A. Mozart. The work remained unfinished
because of the death of the author.
The use of short phrases characterized by ascending and
descending quavers simulates a barely contained crying.

MOONLIGHT SONATA
It's a short and easy arrangement of the first movement
(Adagio Sostenuto) of the famous sonata Op.27 No.2,
composed by Beethoven. The piece is known as Moonlight
Sonata as a result of a critic’s observation and has become
one of the most popular piano composition of all time.
Instead of a classic fast Allegro, as expected from traditional
composition rules, the movement is similar to a very quiet
poem representing a nocturnal scene.

PATHÉTIQUE
The arrangement is a shorter version of the second
movement (Adagio Cantabile) of the piano sonata Op.13
No.8 by Beethoven. The author called it Sonata Pathétique
because it’s rich in Romantic pathos and heroism.
The piece is slow and has a singing style, with a clear and deep
melody.

VIOLIN CONCERTO
The piece for violin and symphonic orchestra was composed
by Felix Mendelssohn and it is one of the most popular and
performed violin concertos of all times.
The arrangement is a short piano version of the first
movement, characterized by an immediate entry of the solo
violin. The theme played by violin comes as a vibrant song and
produces a perception of great Romanticism.

NOCTURNE Op.9 No.2
Nocturnes are a collection of 21 pieces for solo piano. Chopin
composed the Op.9 No.2 nocturne when he was around
twenty years old and it is now considered as composer's most
famous piece. The melody is repeated several times with more
elaborate decorative tones and trills at each repetition.

LA CAMPANELLA
La Campanella (The Little Bell) is the third étude from six
Grandes études de Paganini, composed by Franz Liszt. The
main theme is built on the melody from the final movement
of Violin Concerto No.2 by Niccolò Paganini. The piece is
known as one of the most virtuoso piano pieces.

The Hungarian Dances were written by Johannes Brahms for
piano four hands and later arranged for piano solo. They are
a collection of dance pieces based on Hungarian themes. The
Dance No.5 is the most popular and played piece and is
characterized by passionate themes and the alternation
between loud and soft notes, that simulate thoughts and
changes of mind.

DANSE MACABRE
Originally it was a song for voice and piano with a French text
by the poet Henri Cazalis, which is based on an old French
superstition. Then the French composer Camille Saint-Saëns
reworked the piece into a short symphonic poem for
orchestra.
According to legend, "Death" appears at midnight every year
on Halloween.

HABANERA
Habanera (music or dance of Havana) is the popular name
for an aria from Georges Bizet's opera Carmen. It is
characterized by a descending chromatic scale followed by
variants in minor and then in major key of the same phrase,
corresponding to the vicissitudes of love expressed in the
lyrics.

Asturias is a musical work by the Spanish composer Isaac
Albéniz. The piece, which lasts around six minutes in
performance, was originally written for piano and has become
one of the most important works of the classical guitar

flamenco traditions.

Allegro con fuoco is the fourth movement from Symphony
No.9, "From the New World", composed by Antonín Dvorák
in 1893. It is influenced by Native American music and
African-American spirituals Dvorák was interested in.
Astronaut Neil Armstrong took a recording of this Symphony
along during the first Moon landing.
