Background Information
What is SIP?

 To get a clear understanding of what SIP trunking is we must first understand what SIP is.

 SIP which stands for Session Initiation Protocol, is a standards-based protocol that is used for voice and video

communications over the IP.

 It is the default protocol used by most businesses using VoIP.

 SIP trunking refers to the packetized SIP media stream that moves across the network transporting your voice call

between the PBX and end call destination.

 IP is the industry standard protocol for voice and is supported by wide variety of VoIP equipment:

 A SIP channel is the capability to support one incoming or outgoing call. You can think of SIP channels as the lanes
