1 Installing a PV Module Support
This document uses the 21540630 (wind load 0.65 kPa) support as an example. You can also
refer to this document when installing a 21540631 support (wind load: 1.0 kPa).
1.1 Determining the Direction and Tilt Angle of PV Modules
Determine the orientation of PV modules based on design requirements. In the northern
hemisphere, PV modules face south. In the southern hemisphere, PV modules face north.
The following table lists the tilt angle design specifications.
Site Latitude (Degree) 0–25 25–45
PV Module Tilt Angle (Degree) 15 25
1.2 Installing a PV Module Support
• The PV module support can be used for mounting Outer nut
540 W PV modules or iPV540-M1A modules.
• When installing mechanical parts, use two nuts to
secure the bolts. Tighten the inner nut first and
then the outer nut. After the nuts are tightened,
ensure that the flats on the two nuts are not Inner nut
aligned. (Use a wrench to secure the inner nut
and use another wrench to tighten the outer nut.)
• When installing a support, use a marker to mark
each bolt after tightening.
• There are 406 mm and 626 mm columns. Select a column based on the tilt angle
of PV modules.
Column height (mm) 406 626
PV module tilt angle (degree) 15 25
• The following steps in this document use the tilt angle of 15° as an example.
1. Install anchor brackets for the column. 2. Install a column bracket and

and partially tighten the bolt.
5
3. Install a longitudinal beam in the middle hole of the anchor bracket and partially
tighten the bolt.
4. Install the longitudinal beam on the column and partially tighten the bolts.
Tilt angle of 15°: Use the second and third holes from top to bottom of the beam.
Tilt angle of 25°: Use the third and fourth holes from top to bottom of the beam.
6
5. Secure the support assemblies to the mounting bases on the roof and tighten all bolts
that are partially tightened.
Installation Positions of Anchor Bolts
7
• Ensure that lower edge of the longitudinal beam faces the equator.
• The longitudinal beams face north and south.
• When installing anchor brackets, partially tighten the bolts at first and secure them after
the PV modules are installed.
6. Install horizontal beams.
• Ensure that the bolts are inserted from the front side of the beam.
• Secure the horizontal beams on the first holes from top to bottom and the fifth
holes from bottom to top on the longitudinal beams.
8
7. Install reinforced beams.
8. Install edge clamps and middle clamps for PV modules.
• Partially tighten all the clamps.
• When installing the rubber pad, ensure that the
adhesive side faces upwards. Remove the
adhesive sticker and press the rubber pad to
ensure that it is firmly attached.
• The nuts for securing PV module clamps are
classified into common nuts and antitheft nuts.
Select nuts based on the actual configuration.
• Use an antitheft nut wrench to partially tighten
antitheft nuts.

• U-type bolts on middle clamps can be installed upward or downward. Upward
installation is recommended. The following steps in this document use upward
installation as an example.
• When installing U-type bolts upward, use an extension socket to fix the nuts. The
socket length shall be greater than or equal to 50 mm.
Upward Downward

≥ 50 mm
9. Install PV modules.
• Install PV modules from left to right.
• When installing PV modules, ensure that the distances between the PV module
edges and the two ends of the support horizontal beams are the same.
• When installing PV modules, ensure that the control boxes behind PV modules face
the same direction.
• The following table lists the dimensions of PV modules that can be mounted on a
support.

10. Adjust the positions of clamps to secure the PV modules. Then tighten the screws.
When securing PV modules, ensure that the edge clamps and the middle clamps are
tightly attached to the inner and outer sides of the PV modules, respectively.

3 Installing Cables for PV Modules
3.11.1
Connecting 540 W PV Modules to an SJB
1. Install a ground screw and ground cable for PV modules.
The ground screw must be installed at the bottom of the column. Install the ground
screw near the onsite ground bar.
2. Install DC power cables for PV modules.
If the DC power cables for PV modules are not long enough, extension cables
can be configured.
Installing 540 W PV Modules
When installing PV module cables, connect two PV modules in series as one route and
connect the route to an SJB. Connect the third PV module in series with PV modules
on other supports. The number of PV modules must be an even number.

The figure shows how to connect one route to the SJB.
19
3.2 (Optional) Connecting iPV540-M1A Modules to a PVDB500-15-2B
1. Install a ground screw and ground cable for PV modules.
1.1
The ground screw must be installed at the bottom of the column. Install the ground
screw near the onsite ground bar.
• The voltage is high after PV modules are connected in series. You can connect PV
modules to a high-voltage junction box PVDB500-15-2B and then to iSSUs, or you
can deploy a high-voltage maintenance box. The input voltage of the maintenance
box shall range from 100 V DC to 500 V DC.
• Wear insulated gloves and use insulated tools during installation and cable
connection to avoid electric shocks.
2. Install DC power cables for PV modules.
• If the DC power cables for PV modules are not long enough, extension cables can
be configured.
• An iSSU supports a maximum of three to twelve PV modules connected in series.

An iSSU supports the access of 3 to 12 iPVs. In this example, three iPVs are
connected in series as one route and then connected to the junction box.
PVDB500-15-2B
Wear insulated gloves and use insulated
tools during installation and cable
connection to avoid electric shocks.

3.3 Route of PV Module DC Power Cables
Refer to the cabling of DC power cables in the following figure.
The following figures use PV module support with a tilt of 15° as an example.
For details about how to install the SJB and cables, see the appendix.

4 Installing a PV Module Antitheft Alarm Cable
The antitheft alarm cable is provided for common PV modules. iPV modules do not
need antitheft alarm cables.
1. Route the cable through the holes on the rear of PV modules in sequence and bind
the cable using cable ties.
2. Connect the cable to the DIN port on the user interface module (UIM). The following
figure uses the DIN2 port as an example.
• If the cable is connected to a dry contact that reports an alarm when closed, set the
dry contact to report an alarm when open.
• If the cable is connected to a multiplexed port and the port is set to an ALM output
port, set it to a DIN port.
